reboot prob...

Hi,

I've got a serious problem with my pc... When I play a game like Crysis or NFSPS my pc suddenly reboots for no reason... sometimes there appears this windows safe screen ("your pc was shut down to safe it blabla") and sometimes it just reboots...

It's pretty annoying and I dno the reason... I tried to update and reinstall some drivers but it didn't work at all :/

My system:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2x 2.4 GHz)
Sound: SoundMAX HD Audio 7.1
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (640 MB RAM)
Memory: 2048 MB Dual-Channel DDR2-RAM
O/S: Windows XP Prof.

Anyone got an idea? Thanks in advance

your pc is too high... buy low fps pc ^^
Then I can't play Crysis anymore ;<<<<<
Parent
Maybe to high temperature @ GPU and CPU... download everest...
Normal temperature looks like this:

Parent
that's too much work :<<<

there must be another way
Parent
ahh if u have drivers and software NP
Parent
Temperature of the GPU is way too high :P
Parent
I was able to lower it a bit thanks to the nForce Temperature Control... hopefully the reboots will stop now :/
Parent
just start the game and get in the 1st level. Than open the Temperature again. just look and wait.
If your Graphiccard is overheaten the pc should hang up. If your Processor is overheaten the pc should shut down. But i dont know when he makes a reboot :s
Parent
funny thing is that my cpu's temperature is fine, my gpu temp is a bit too high imo but if that doesn't cause a restart... what causes it then? :O
Parent
Parent
Mhhm der läuft aber eigtl. noch einwandfrei ;)
Parent
had it to untill the blue screen showed up, re-install your mem cards
You mean the RAM?

I looked into the Hardware-Manager and it says like 20 times "PCI Standard-RAM Controller"

Since I only have 2 RAM-Sticks it sounds pretty weird imo :O
Parent
take them out clean them, and clean the slot itself too, helped me quit some times
Parent
also try using http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
make a cd with the iso and leave overnight or as long as possible. It will check ram for errors! or you could just try one stick play the game then the other. its a bit quicker
Parent
PSU PSU PSU PSU
indeed prolly the power supply
Parent
Found something in a hardware forum...

There they say I should disable the "Restart PC on System-Error"-Option...

Is it safe to turn that off?
it will still give BSOD then, but wont reboot straight away. turning it off is safe.
Parent
Maybe I can read the Error-Message then... thx for the info ;)
Parent
its power supply .. had the same thing
Well dont play the game :D = no reboot.

Problem solved
It`s like "don`t turn on your computer, so your computer problem is solved".
Parent
xD <3333

Try the ultimate bootcd for testing ram, cpu (or prime95 in windows) and harddrive. Also have a look at your event logs in windows... (start->run->eventvwr) and check System. Probably the best tip i can give you is disable auto reboot (System -> advanced -> click the 3rd settings button (startup settings) and untick automatic reboot). The automatic reboot thingy will cause your pc to show blue screens instead of auto rebooting, those bluescreens can give you an indication in what the problem is.
I got tons of DCOM Errors in that log... but dno what that is :x

a windows service... but this service isnt able to cause a blue screen or reboot.
Parent
just !format ;)
