forcing cvars

i have a strange problem, when i change cvars in my cfg and even when i manually enter them ingame, after a vid_restart they stay the same :/

Can anyone help me...

mostly regarding

r_colorbits
r_picmip
r_overbrightbits
r_intensity

ect...
