RAM Problem

Hi2u Crossfire-Readers!

I got a serious problem with my RAM :<

I got 2 Corsair DDR2-RAMsticks (Dualchan / each 1024MB / 800 MHz) and I got some bluescreens in the past few days when I was in 3D Mode.

I just checked my RAM with Memtest86 and I got nearly 80 Errors... I tested each RAMstick seperately and the crazy thing is that none of them got errors when checked alone... As soon as I put them in both and check again, I got my 80 errors again :/

Does anyone have an idea? A friend of mine talked about a memory virus or sth. like that... would that be possible? oO

Go to bios and change Vdimm/Vram to ~2.0 / 2.1v
Mhhhm isn't that a bit dangerous, I mean couldn't it completely damage my RAM? :o

EDIT: 2.05V reduced it to 76 errors and 2.1V reduced it to 8 errors

yea, imo you need to increase voltage ~ i hope atleast :p
guarantee np

and you sure you put them to slot 1 and 3 not 1 and 2 or smth?
windows would not boot with 1/2
Parent
ok, learned something new again!
i always thought it would boot but not work or smth
Parent
wont work i guess
Parent
1 & 3 are marked blue, so there's no way I would put them in the wrong slots ^^

Even swapped them, cleaned them, but still I got these errors
Parent
i have no idea o:, never heard about smth like that
try and put the new memory in slot 1 and the older one in 2

and did you install it carefully or just smashed it in XD
Well there is no new and old RAM ^^

These 2 Sticks were in my PC when I bought it and yes, I put them in carefully again :D
Parent
check if your slots are dirty
its always the little things that do it
Parent
cleaned them... still errors, wasn't the reason as it seems
Parent
raise the ram voltage to 2.05V
That reduced the errors to 76 and changing it to 2.1V even reduced it to 8 errors

Maybe I should put it to 2.125 or 2.150? Is there a critical border that I shouldn't cross?

which ram do you own? send me a link please

and which mobo

The short description is in German but the details are in English:

Parent
i wouldnt go higher than 2.1v

on which board are they running?
Parent
ASUS P5N32-E SLI
Parent
dunno
i think its the board
update your bios with eZflash
should work then
Parent
Hmmm shouldn't I use the official Drivers from ASUS? :o

Btw I find some kind of Nintendo DS thingy when I google ezflash :D
Parent
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5N32-E%20SLI/1403.zip

all you have to do is put it on an usb stick, press del while boot and select asus ezflash @ bios

then select the .bin and voila

i would try it
Parent
i will, especially coz the realease notes always say "enhaned compatibility with memory modules" ^^
Parent
First of all, thx for ur help, but one last question:

Will it work with a USB Stick? The official manual says that the programme will load the file from drive A:\ which would be a floppy drive... but I don't have one ^^
Parent
ye it should, ive got the asus p5e and did it with my corsair usb stick :>
just try it
Parent
ok gonna do that, but first i make a nice backup ^^
Parent
OK gotta thank you again :)

You really helped me ^^ Still got 4 errors after the BIOS update but i guess thats way better than 80 :)

Hope that I'm aware of bluescreens now xD
Parent
hehe np dude

Dual Channel not working maybe?
My guess is that there is some problem with the dualchan on the mobo. If it would have been a problem with the RAM u would have gotten the errors when testing them separately. At least at one of them.
Can u use slot 2 and 4 for dual mabye?
The RAM wasn't detected when I put them in these slots... guess that they have to be in the blue marked slots (1&3) ^^

anything overclocked?
