spoof a pbguid ?

i ll make it short, i remember someone telling it was possible to spoof a pbguid, but also that not everybody could do it.
it was long ago, and britney was still a hairy virgin, so i guess things could also have evolved about pbguids.

i ask for your geek knowledge on the subject. is it actually possible? can some nc fuck face do it? etc ...
to come to a conclusion, is it still a reliable identification tool?






i can feel the "who cares" vibe coming, but let s just say it will serve my evil plan to conquer the world. and why not on the way piss off a few cheaters.

you can only really spoof pbguid results on yawn which is the last 8 numbers, i don't think its possible to spoof someones entire pbguid.

Impossible? The pB guid is just an algorithm, find out the algorithm and you can make whatever guid you want.

yeah i also looked a bit at the way to bypass hashes but then i though that coders would rather do it on 1file in ET than on thousands of pbguids so i m not so really worried about that.

its pretty heavily encrypted and has a checksum included in it as well so doubt it is going to happen :>

Yeah, I think thats possible. But in my opinion the "easiest" way to spoof it is to take control of the player's computer and to take his etkey. It seems stupid, but I'm sure some nC coders/admins already tried.

You can spoof only the last 8 digits of the pbguid.
The last 8 digits are generated of the cd-key.
So if u got the cdkey np4u to spoof it or u have to search other programs,which sent false infos to punkbuster or yawn.

pb guid spoofing is impossible afaik and the only real method of ensuring its the correct player. It is possible to spoof a pbguid for screenshot though :O

etpro spoofing is the only real thing that can be done. still get a red yawn for your etpro guid sadly, as I know people who have had this in the past - you dont have it with your pbguid/etproguid mix, just from the spoofer/name if they use the same name noobs get all whiney that they see a red yawn. :[

pbguid spoof is impossible, BUT it's possible to send false pbguid to yawn.

=> yawn is not a suffisant proof

=> pbguid from pbban is reliable

=> pbguid during a war is reliable

I was told by a cheat coder that it's possible. My limited programming and computer knowledge, as well as common sense tell me that it might be possible. By knowing how the pb_guid is generated, understanding the algorithm and how it's generated means you could exploit it. It's basically just a case of either exploiting or avoiding any preventative measures then.

There's always the issue of having two players on the same server, but he assured me that it was in fact possible to have two players with the same value in the same server. I'm almost certain that I have a Call of Duty 2 screenshot which proves that a pb guid can be 'spoofed', I'll see if I can find it.

well, the algorithm knows only devs @ evenbalance and it cant be spoofed. The only thing which can be spoofed is a cvar or data trasmitting into some place (like yawn), hf!

rotfl, u dnt know what u r talking about and your knowledge u based on friend, so gl! Cracks are making by debugging the dis-assemblered (sry, dnt know the word) version of the executing file and that how its working. They do not have SDK :D and they can idd spot how is smth working, but they certainly do not know exactly advanced algorithms which are making by devs. You can know the algorithm for making a dinner but u dnt know for some special cooked delicious meal with hidden stuff etc., hope u understand me.

afaik i was a little worried that they could do it but just never care enough. pbguid being linked to etkey has a very limited use and thus is so easy to change.

i m a gullible so all in all i ll take all this as a no and stay idle in my corner till i really rule the universe.
