Realtek AC97 Audio problem

So, i tried to fix my Ventrilo codecs and somehow fukfak'd my onboard sound card. So when i try to listen to music it says: "Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code 8878000A."
That's the only error message I've got. I have tried to reinstall my sound card drivers, reboot and other usual tricks, but nothing seems to affect.

Anybody got _any_ ideas to get my sounds back :D?

realtek sucks balls, get mental on it,
no i dont know to fix it.
realtek's quality isn't optimal tbh
buy a extern soundcard ....
If you're using a sound card why do you still have your onboard sound still enabled?
deinstall your realtekcard and then install it again and put on the newest drivers.
i had almost the same problem when i trusted in windows
i made a windows update and also updated my Realtek AC97 driver

so.. i had to get back to my old driver to simply have sound
had the same.. i had to enable the soundcard at startup and disable it before shutting down (so it atleast worked) did that for 2 weeks or so then the problem was gone ?=)
I had the same long time ago, don't remember how I fixed it but google usually helps in these situations.
system restore?
cpuz => check mobo type => download mobo drivers
i already know my motherboard type, but the problem is that it's so old, that Gigabyte doesn't provide anything for it anymore :D

Atleast you don't have diverted sound like I have with that same soundcard.
