New Monitor

I was thinking about buying a new monitor since I'm kinda sick of my 6 year old 17 inch CRT. Switching to a TFT is big step since CRT's are way better: no ghosting, higher hertz and especially NO SUCH THING AS DEAD PIXELS. Too bad they are that big :-(.

These ones looked pretty intresting :

- Syncmaster 226 BW 22"
- Syncmaster 226 CW (any difference :/) 22"
- Acer P223W X-Serie 22"
- SyncMaster 2243 NW 22"
- SyncMaster 223 BW 22"

BUDGET: ~ 270 EUR... MAX

any advice?

i got 223bw. no problems for me.

backlight is not that soft, but only visible on black screens.
quite ok, but the missing height-adjust sucks ass. (hi to 2 mathbooks)

difference of cw-bw:
cw has bigger color-range (you wont need it as a player, and graphicdesigners wont use such a panel anyways. save the money)

IIYAMA Pro Lite E2201W-B1 is best choice imo.
Check those tests, this monitor is best choice for players. The IIYAMA Pro Lite E2201W-B2 is a little worse due to 3000:1.

What games do you play? Cause i played ET on a 206bw and it sucked... widescreen and et = no no. But if you play COD4/ other "modern games" i would recommend a widescreen, you can get some advantage with it. (larger view, you will see a bit more) And ofc, you need a good videocard, larger resolution will eat allot of your pc.
