Job openings at Epsilon

Probably not the real place to be for gamers like you all, but I thought I should give it a try anyway, just in case a new writer steps up.

We at Epsilon-eSports, are seeking new writers as of today. The main purpose of writing for us is of course giving the reader the needed information about various team changes, LAN events and developments within the communities.

Apart from the obvious part, Epsilon will shortly release their newest website giving the reader more features and possibilities to gain knowledge about a scene - this all needs the support of talented and motivated writers who are willing to write in exchange for rewards - varying on the amount of work you deliver.

80% of our website stats are for the international news, which you would be writing for in case you became interested.

A CoD4 writer is interesting for us but not needed the most, we actually need people who are able to generally write anything (Concerning our own teams or about other games) relying on their sources. This means you should be able to convert texts in your own words and post them on our website.

You would work in a strongly established and rapidly growing organisation, sponsored by Nike, OCZ, SNS and Gigabyte, with overall a nice atmosphere.

would love to do it, if i only had more time :(
how much do you pay?
We generally don't work via giving people salaries, this is most likely happening at extraordinary occasions which are rather unorthodox for Epsilon. We do however offer you rewards or a salary every 3 months (which is to be discussed though) just as a token thanks.

so its not like a real job

Meet the internetz.
Parent
there are ways of making decent money on the internetz
Parent
We don't need people who actually write for being paid, thats clear bullshit and we wouldn't get any profit out of it as the writers wouldn't be pleased anyway, we want people who write for us because they like to do so, and it as well practices your written english skills.
Parent
well you cant write "job opening" and expect that people will work for nothing :p
Parent
That's actually your interpretation.
Parent
its not at all
Parent
What's wrong with naming it a job? And these are actually job openings as you can get rewards for it.

QuoteDefinitions of job on the Web:

* occupation: the principal activity in your life that you do to earn money;
* a specific piece of work required to be done as a duty or for a specific fee;

It's not about interpretations. Sorry to be a pedant but you are misusing the word job.
Parent
"a specific piece of work required to be done as a duty" "or for a specific fee"

We're offering it on quite the same plate.
Parent
slaves still have to do work and have jobs, last I heard they don't get paid :P

it's perfectly reasonable to use the word job in this instance
Parent
what slaves do is genrally referred to as something like "labour" or at worst "work" but not really "job"
Parent
sure slave labour is a popular term, just like slave worker is also a term used just not as popular.

if you want to be pedantic about it;

# occupation: the principal activity in your life that you do to earn money; "he's not in my line of business"
# a specific piece of work required to be done as a duty or for a specific fee; "estimates of the city's loss on that job ranged as high as a million dollars"; "the job of repairing the engine took several hours"; "the endless task of classifying the samples"; "the farmer's morning chores"
# a workplace; as in the expression "on the job";
# an object worked on; a result produced by working; "he held the job in his left hand and worked on it with his right"
# the responsibility to do something; "it is their job to print the truth"
# the performance of a piece of work; "she did an outstanding job as Ophelia"; "he gave it up as a bad job"
# a damaging piece of work; "dry rot did the job of destroying the barn"; "the barber did a real job on my hair"
# problem: a state of difficulty that needs to be resolved; "she and her husband are having problems"; "it is always a job to contact him"; "urban problems such as traffic congestion and smog"
# a Jewish hero in the Old Testament who maintained his faith in God in spite of afflictions that tested him
# profit privately from public office and official business
# any long-suffering person who withstands affliction without despairing
# subcontract: arranged for contracted work to be done by others
# (computer science) a program application that may consist of several steps but is a single logical unit
# a book in the Old Testament containing Job's pleas to God about his afflictions and God's reply
# work occasionally; "As a student I jobbed during the semester breaks"
# caper: a crime (especially a robbery); "the gang pulled off a bank job in St. Louis"
# speculate: invest at a risk; "I bought this house not because I want to live in it but to sell it later at a good price, so I am speculating"

aren't you looking for well written articles? instead of engrish but trying-to-learn
Parent
We could always use people who like to write articles for us, for more information contact me on irc.
Parent
ur talking bout porn right ?
Parent
you could have saved much time and said 'we dont pay'
Parent
We do pay actually.
Parent
I was promised to be given a monthly salary if I accepted the job, so was that merely a lie to get me into the job or has espilon changed their 'tactic'?
Parent
We've changed our policy as of today as we are getting more and more writers and our budget has decreased for 3 months because we need to get some things paid concerning the new website.
Parent
What would you say if we (admins of CF) posted on your site that we have a job opening for writers?
It would get removed as we do not allow it, but I've seen VAE do it before so I don't see the problem as that thread didn't get removed either.
Parent
If it was solely up to me I would've deleted this as well. I'll let some other admins decide wether this stays or not.
Parent
Has the policy been changed in that case? As crossfire.nu previously didn't delete such threads. or has it all to do with swine working for crossfire? -.-
Parent
swine is fake admin, some1 gave him perms to give him the posibilaty to abuse them.
Parent
Right, I don't see why this thread should be removed in this case. A little bit strange to me but I guess I'll have to agree with this matter and respect it as long as you guys are admins. :\.
Parent
beside the fact that I agree with superboyy, we have 141, vae (as u said) and others pormoting the same thing, theres no point in removing it for the benefit of esports. Probably you got my reply kinda wrong.
Parent
There is no policy or rule for it but it's like this, I'll give an example:

As the owner of a garage, you walk into another garage and say "hey, we are looking for mechanics. Anyone interested?"

You simply don't do that. For that same reason you would've deleted it on your site as well.
Parent
QuoteIt would get removed as we do not allow it,

I'd have banned you for that statement alone.
Parent
Aww I'm sorry but I'm lookin for a fully paid journalism job :(
