» Liquid Cooling (PC)

Hello PC-TechnicFreaks, i need your Help!

any of you have Experience with an Liquid Cooling System? I want to buy a new PC and I don't know if i should take AC(AirCooling) or LC.

Is it safe?

LC Pro:

- silent
- faster in supporting the heat away from the CPU

LC Contra:

- (?)

discuss , thanks for all answers!

those ready-to-use systems you posted arent better than air cooling and arent rly more silent
it was just for the noobs that never heard anything about LC, it is just a google'd picture.
Parent
it's safe if you do it right, try looking up innovatek products, those are the best liquid coolers.
don't think it's worth the money tho [if you buy it to overclock]. you could spend to money to get a better component. simple that is. however, if you have a high end system, and money is not a big deal for you, take it.
I will buy a HighEnd PC and therfor i am just deciding between AC and LC, don't really care about the Money so. Just want to hear Opinions about LC since i never had LC before.

Thanks anyway
Parent
why? whats the price?
Parent
real effective liquid cooling starts ~170 euros
Parent
i have a heating problems....my games keeps freeze and then turn into some fucked up graphics, the game seem to last longer without these effects if the room temp is low and theres a small fan(shit fan) close to it
shall i buy a decent air cooling?
Parent
both ur q6600 and 8800gt components are damn overheaters.
get a Thermalright Ultra-120 (or a Cooler-Master Hyper 212 which costs way less and is also effective) for ur cpu and a Zalman VF 1000 (or vf 900 which is cheaper and not so much worse)for ur vga
Parent
and remove the side panel of your computer. most computers usually have better cooling that way.
Parent
i did...it jumped from 85~C while in game to around 65C while game...but still causeing freezes
i need the really best cooler i can get, i have AROUNd 100euros to spend
Parent
check if you can get the ones i've recommended. if not, pm me and i will give other options.
Parent
i just checked it and it seems to cost around 200euros, but all says with HD radeon 7845 or something
Parent
Unless you've got fans mounted on the side panel :e
Parent
i have them and it's better without them....
Parent
Then something must be blocking the air circulation in your PC. I get 10-15% higher temperatures on both GPU and CPU if I take the side panel off.
Parent
1) that fan at the side panel is quite small, it's more for the design imo... haha
2) it's that cold in my room that my feet almost freeze :D i think it's just the fact that there's more contact with cold air when the side is removed...

Parent
thats cool man, but its loud, right?
Parent
they are all lot more silent than default coolers....... and ofc more effective.
TOP Combo:
Ultra 120 (Extreme?) + VF 1000 ---> 80 Euros together
MID+ Combo:
Hyper 212 + VF 900 ---> 60 Euros together
Parent
so fuck off the default fans and get those 2? thx, you are a fucking hero :P
edit
but how will i get the parts? my company doesnt seem to have them (i think?)
Parent
definitely.
just google around for the parts in ur mother language. i'm sure u will find them. =]
search like "hyper 212 price" etc.
Parent
ive found them in an israeli online shop, prob is i dont know how to put it in the pc :P
Parent
it's really simple. just ask some friend who knows a lot about computers normally. the coolers all come with instructions, it's really hard to fail...:)

for the cpu cooler, i think you only need to replace the stock cooler you've got with one of these (and you might have to remove the motherboard, but i'm not sure... a pro can do it). and you will have to put some thermal grease on the top of the cpu for better heat contact. [thermal paste is included in package, and the whole thing is not a big deal...]

for the vga: that's a bit more complicated - you have to remove the card from the computer. take off the stock cooling and clean the old thermal paste. use the termal paste from the package and hook the new cooler up + put the card back

BUT.... IT'S IMPORTANT. sometimes you will have to wait a day or smth. for the thermal paste to get fixed. if it's like a liquid it can reach other parts of the computer and break them when you turn the pc on (some pastes conduct electricity, that's why). you should take a really good care with this. so after fixing the cpu and the vga. just wait a day and check at night if the paste remained or not.
Parent
ok thx...ill try to get a help from someone :P
Parent
at first imo it's important to ask for help. but as soon as you've seen the whole process you will think it's damn easy [and it really is.]
Parent
they usually come with a manual
Parent
surely u can find other places, but in english this is all what i've managed to look up... nP:)
Parent
who cares if its loud, ur gonna be wairing ur headset anyway with music trew teh speakers
Parent
my computer is louder than our hoover :D and i can still sleep beside it [8 fans overall]
Parent
Innovatek?
The best liquid cooling?
ur joking right?

D-Tek FuZion V2 and Thermochill PA120.3 and Liang D5 Pump and some res + 1/2 = ftw.
Parent
it used to be =/ at least, innovatek is the best you can buy in hungary :P
+ they have the best "Ready to use" kits afaik.
Parent
ye in hungary...

Innovatek isnt bad but isnt good either if you like the german style of watercooling this is better
http://www.aqua-computer.de/
http://www.alphacool.com/shop/
But the best Liquid cooling is from American brands
Like D-Tek Swiftech DangerDen and EK waterblocks is aswell rly good
This is a shop where you allmost find everything
http://www.aquatuning.de/
Parent
This is safe but if u got "shit" PC dont buy this. This is to expensive
Buy sth like this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109125
shit u r like a baboon
Parent
depends if a silent PC is really worth the extra money to you, and we can't make that decision for you. If you do go for the watercooling route, at least take steps to make it a true quiet PC, eg: Harddrive Suspension

a good watercooling system will set you back a shitton of money, a top of the range heatsink like the mugen or ultra120 will cost less but at the disadvantage of a louder PC
Quoteany of you have Experience with an Liquid Cooling System?

Yes.

Works great when installed correctly :)
will it keep my GPU cold? or are there better ways to cool my gfx card?
Parent
arctic cooling silencers... zalman vf series.....
the zalman vf 1000 can keep the radeon hd4870 load temps below 50°C.
Parent
a friend of mine had it. it leaked, and fried pretty much his entire pc. he uses fans now.
epic fail, allways do a test run with 24h testing for leaking. And dont use normal water else you will frie your pc rly fast.
Parent
it worked for a few weeks, untill he had to move his pc ;D
Parent
If ure not some expert overclocker, which u apparent arent since ure asking this, take air, doesnt make a shits difference for normal user
is that a cat leg in the second picture :D
lol busted :D

http://specs.tweak.to/8808

This is my watercooled pc, custom build watercooling set.
New about 200~300 euros.

http://www.freewebs.com/rezta/edpc/wc.JPG ( messy pic just build it )
You cant see my Swiftech MCP650 pump on it because its below my DVD rom drive and on the top is my res.

Specs

Radiator: Danger Den Dual Heatercore + Fanschroud
Pump: Swiftech MCP650
CPU Block: D-Tek FuZion
NB Block: Swiftech MCW30
Hose: Tygon 1/2 3603
Reservoir: Danger Den Single Bay Reservoir

The best thing you can buy now is.

D-Tek FuZion 2 ( or the new swiftech block)
Thermochill PA120.3 radiator
Liang D5 pump or if you want a small pump another one from Liang is fine aswell
Simple res like Swiftech Micro res
And some tygon 1/2 hose is allways good.

And for graphics GPU block
Swiftech MCW60, D-Tek FuZion 2 GFX, Dangerden Maze 5 are all fine.
one more pro: its fucking cool to have LC :D
