What cpu? [e]

Hai gais :o

[e²] Thx, appreciate the input. I decided to get a better Mainboard so I can still upgrade
to any c2q or c2d in the future. The i7 is just way to expensive and imo not really needed if you only game. An e8xxx or a quadcore would do just fine imo and with the Asus P5Q-E I think I'd have a good solution for future upgrades. (The P5Q-Pro would also do but this one has better chipset cooling :P) Still gonna buy a e5200 tho because it has the same architecture as the c2d's, is made in 45nm process so it's nice for overclocking and is ofc cheap! :P

ps: Anyone interested in a 8 month old 8600GTS 512 from MSI? Will give away cheap! pm

keke have decided on these components but will wait till mid december when the christmas shit hits so I can save a little more :O

MB - Asus P5Q-E
CPU - e5200
MEM - 2GB Corsair Dominator (gonna use XP)
CASE - Antec "This is Sparta" 300 :D

Would be 280€ but as I said I'm going to wait till Christmas and hopefully save 50€~

Already have:
HD4850 (39° idle, haha to suckers with temp. problems :D)
Corsair hx550w
Harddrive
Dvd burn3r

kthxbye <3

wait for i7, if even not buying one, the price of old core2duos will drop
when will it come out, approximately?
Parent
quite soon, first i7 processors have already been tested (they quite fucking pwn, not sure @ price tho)
Parent
first combos (cpu+mobo) are aroung 600€
Parent
yes but prices of existing cpus will drop after the i7 release
Parent
sure, it is always the same
Parent
Standard @2.66ghz will be around 350-400 pounds (stupid american keyboard -.-)
Parent
I wouldn't do that , they're getting worse benchmarks for CoD4 iirc
Parent
they are still getting better scores than any other machine yet, so i'd do that...
+ still need to wait for offical release
Parent
im waiting for sandy bridge, nehalem is going to suck but sandy bridge should be out around the time i want to upgrade and will be much more appealing than negalam (going to skip it altogether, probably even westmere)

Parent
you dont understand, an i7 has almost price as the Q550/Q9450, and does 30-100% more performance
about sandy bridge, it aint relevant right now, as it's in 2 years :I oops, irrelevant reply, i though it's the journal with the guy's new PC rig :S
Parent
No they don't : & hence my comment
Parent
And now apply it with a normal GFX card and swallow your comment and stats
Parent
it still beats the E8500 in cod4, but the QX9770 beats it in cod4, and it costs 2x the core i7, so beat your own dick
Parent
Not rly , I saw stats with a normal gfx card for CoD4 and i7 failed ,can't remember where though , a week ago prolly
Parent
try to remember then

someone explain me in 3 words what he wrote

Intel Core2 Duo E8400 2x 3.00GHz S775 Boxed E0 Stepping
1066 not 1333, thx
Parent
the best "bang for buck" on a budget would be like an e2xxx with good cooling oc'd to 3-4ghz but if you didn't already know that then i doubt you know how to do that (your understanding of FSB seems pretty limited, to say the least)

could just go e6750 or something in that range
I know about the e2160, but I'm not really sure if it would go that high on the board I'm buying :D It's really cheap tho, 60€ or so. I'm just gonna wait till the i7 hit's and see how the price range is then on the better cpu's.
Parent
10/10
i fucking RAGED
Parent
10/10
i fucking RAGED
e5200 ez bash to 4Ghz has same architecture then c2d and is way cheaper, so NO :D
Parent
The Gigabyte has ide connectors for sure, dunno about asus one.
So you can just use your old IDE devices. Performance wise if you have a good IDE harddisk it doesnt matter alot, and for DVD burner it doesnt matter either.
well just checked and the GB has 1 IDE controller \o/ but my dvd drives have a cable of the same shape so I prolly would need new ones, but which? :o

[e] Nvm getting an Asus P5Q-E so I can upgrade later, just gonna have to wait for christmas :P
Parent
On one ide cable you can attach 2 devices. So one IDE Hardisk and one IDE DVD burner is no problem.
Parent
Then I'm set! :P Thx mate
Parent
Hold off for the i7 to be a bit more widespread, then Intel will announce some price cuts for the Conroe processors. Unless money isn't really an issue, in which case I'd just get an i7 as the benchmarks have been fucking unreal. Not much of an OC'er though >:(
Money is an issue so no i7, way too expensive anyways. I'm just gonna get a decent p45 mobo (Asus P5Q-E) and buy a cheap cpu so I can upgrade it later on. I'm pretty sure that an Oc'd c2d with 4mb cache or a quadcore will be enough for any game I'd like to play :>
Parent
Damn straight, my E8400 is sitting pretty at 3.8GHz atm and is as stable as hell. The Conroe's are awesome!
Parent
What kind of fps do you get on crysis/far cry 2 maxed out, if you played it?
Parent
you mean Wolfdales, they are based on Conroe tho. But E8400 = Wolfdale :)
Parent
reply skillz <3
Parent
kentsfield is better for overclocking, loving my 3.6ghz Q6600 :)
Parent
Almighty meez do you approve of my buy? :D
Parent
ye, you gotta love the kentsfields, they mostly can use higher fsb than the penryn.
What fsb are you running Meez?
Parent
right now, 333x9, wanted something where i know what temps/etc i should be getting for linux testing, need to tweak around some more

I think I'll probably end up at 400x7/8, i've had 3.6 stable but I just don't need it at all and it's pointless shortening the life of my chip for it

got it saved in the bios though for if I ever have a long video encode or whatnot :)
Parent
ah i run on 8x450. But i got watercooling so np.
And those chips wont die in your lifetime anyway.
Parent
it's not bad, same architecture as core 2 duo, it's 45 instead of 65nm and is easy oc'd to 3.6Ghz with air cooling :P

I can still upgrade later, that's why I chose the Mobo. Just don't see why I should spend double the amount of money for a better cpu where I can OC and get almost the same performance.
Parent
speed is not everything, what about cach?
Parent
After what I've read you can game just fine with 2MB L2 cache. The only place where it makes any significant difference is in doing video editing, multitasking etc. Also I think 3.6ghz without having to up the Vcore is pretty damn sweet :D

[e] even the e2160 @ 3.2Ghz (Stock 1.8) Is up to par with the c2d 6850 and even out performs it in games and it only has 1mb L2 cache, so this is a good choice imho.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, this is just what I've been coming across the most.
Parent
you should take e8400 imo, but thats just because i got it
Parent
Don't need it tbh, will definitely upgrade after a while tho. But then it'll probably be a
core 2 quad which I will then also OC. I never saw the need in buying expensive CPUs since there's always a way to get the same or even more performance in games with
half the money or even less.

What kinda fps do you get in ET with that CPU btw, like 5000 or sth? :D
Parent
high quality config 333 fps
Parent
:D I was thinking about krone's 4000 fps screens and that with that cpu you should get shit loads of fps but ok, hf with 333fps on campaign servers ;D
Parent
some retards put the max to 125 :\
