Punkbuster problems

Hey Crossfire,
so I wen't onto that server and immediately after the loading screen disappeared the whole game crashed and the window "ET.exe has encountered a problem and ... " popped up. I was like wtf and went trying other servers, but experienced the same problem everywhere EXCEPT for the AntiPro server. You're reading right, this is one of the few servers not running PunkBuster which led me to the conclusion that Punkbuster's got something to do with that. I made sure again that my Punkbuster client's up-to-date which it wasn't so I updated it, but unfortunately, it didn't change anything.

Does anyone of you have an idea?
Maybe it's of interest that the loading screen appears twice right before the game crashes?

installed a anti virus program or something else recently?

The only thing I changed in comparison to yesterday evening / night (when I played the last time and it was still working) is HLSW: I updated it to the newest version. At first, I considered this to be reason, but it apparently is not as servers without pb don't seem to be affected...

edit: just try restoring your pc to last time you played it and it was fine

I don't think it has anything to do with my problems as explained above. Also, it's quite difficult to restore the exact state from yesterday evening.

i played last month np at all..
now the thing when i try to update for nothing
reinstalled et for nothing put all my backups
but when i put a pb file backup of 2years ago i can play 5min and the same crush
crush again imiditly after

Punkbuster did not kick me, ET just crashed and that window appeared ("ET.exe has encountered a problem and ... "). Also, ET.exe used like 200 MB RAM at this time as I saw in the task manager.

Hmm, most of time is then prob smth in ur cfg with some of cmds that are wrong setted, since u getting that crash could be posibble that kind of stuffs or smth wrong with ur drivers. Just try to update drivers and re-install et. After install et dont try some time to exec ur cfg and just go at public/private server with deafult cfg that u see if smth is wrong in ur cfg.

my thing is that when i update pb et crash
when i put my old pb file that a hade back up ill play for 5min kind of befoure crash

dont thing coz cfg

i played et for 5years never had prob with this cfg

definitly pb folder is crushing my et

CuttyP had this problem, and he fixed it somehow. PM him and ask for help.

I just updated f-secure today and suddenly i happen to have the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

You should try this, go to control panel -> administrative tools -> serivices -> FSGKHS <- stop
