meGUI compression help

Well I've recently just gotten into movie making and have been making testclips using x264 codec in megui. I tried ag0n'sand Shaolin x264 settings but get crappy quality either way.

I've noticed though that I don't have these profiles(that were recommended in hannes tutorial):HQ-Insane, HQ-slow, HQ-slower, and HQ-slowest. I don't know why i don't have these profiles I installed the k-lite codec pack and updated x264 in megui.

Also while trying to use ag0n's and others settings I noticed that x264 config windows look different than theirs :/. Here are pics of the different tabs in my megui(random profile settings).

Dunno why they would be any different lol must have installed x264 wrong or something?

tabs might be different but its still the same content, jusz have a look at that :P

just set the settings agon is using and click ok, u can additionally save the settings/profile

Like i said though I've tried ag0n's settings and i get crappy quality :/. Dunno what I'm doing wrong though

what do you mean with crappy quality?
what are u using when you are recording ingame? how much fps? itswrap? image?

u recorded @ 1280*720? :)

well, i actually like it..though its not some kind of megahighquality ofc :p

u also used his config?
have u added some colours with vegas?
did u resize anything ? ( doesnt look like it tho, just asking :p )

well i used ag0ns config and i couldnt use that resolution. so i used 1280x720 like a lot of other people do. and also put your bitrate to 5000 on megui

Not record, resize. Don't ask me about the technical details, cause I can't explain them. BUT: resizing gives you better quality.

as the others said, ur final resoulution should be 1280*720 i think :)
so either u resize or u record screenshots at that res.

had the exact same problem (yet to fix it)

using image recorded @ 1650x1050, resize @ VDUB to 1280x800 (no vegas/AE)

crap quality with aGon's settings (imo I think it's something to do with installed codecs but not 100% certain).

well i'm having same problem.

it has to do with this new version of megui.

you can do 3 things:

- use old megui and don't update core from megui
- use the new one and find your own settings
- don't use megui
