Too High Ping -.-

Hi 2 u

I have a problem with my Ping @ ET (in wars sometimes on german servers or on pub like cybergames teh same shit!) every time i have a ping from 70 - 120 so its unplayable.
I have DSL 6000 but with wLan and my system:

cpu: AMD 4200+ @ 2,9 Ghz
ram: 2Gb (800Mhz)
gfx: Sapphire HD4670 @ 1Gb

but atm i have lock the fps on 76 for test smth

In EtQw or in Quake3 i have a ping from 30-60

NEEd help plz, what can i change in my settings (cfg and maybe modem) to get a much better ping?

btw: i cant upgrade my connection from wLan too lan or from 6000 too 16000 or smth -.-

i know cfg settings can change ping slightly, but not enough. it's probably your internet being shit.

internet issue normally.. your host could have a good connection to france but a bad one to germany.. just an example

i can play fallout3D, crysis warhead with max grafic np, but still have 40-70 fps in ET

don't think so ^^, i played all new games (egoshooter, tactical games, every kind of games) and the only game i have random fps between 40-90 is ET ^^, i think is is because of pb or so

ET = Quake engine = CPU .. A pentium 4 1.8 ghz proccessor with a HD4870x2 won't give 125 fps on ET =) but even a geforceX 4 will give you 125 with a good cpu =)

but that can't be the problem, my pc is now over 2 years old. i had in this 2 years of gaming EVERYTIME 125 FPS without any problems ( with the same cfg ) and now after 2 years i only have 40-80 FPS, i also did format c: for it but after that ( i only had windows and ET on my pc ) i still got between 40-90 fps (ofc i reach 125 or more but not stable ). so pls tell me now whats the problem ? :DDD

If you got a dual core or quad core, let PknbstrB.Exe run on a different core than ET ,should solve it

1.Delete whole pb folder -> download pbsetup.exe -> let it check for updates & let it install them -> set pb_security 0, pb_sleep 500 and pb_system 0 -> play

Setting higher priority (higher then normal) also helps a lot! dno if this works copy/paste
2. install linux, this will work 4 sure

i have done format c: and before ofc pbsetup.exe and stuff, also higher priority and still doesn't work :<

installing linux solved all my lag + fps prob. but a format + a good cleaning should also do the trick, dno dude maybe something broke(PSU) or something is overheating

yes i know... but i just don't play ET, i'm also working with much tool on my pc which doesn't run under linux (so easy) and 2 OS are not that nice...

well i am using wlan adsl too with 4 mbit from turkey i have the same thing i think its cuz of the highload on net sometimes and the trace to other countries afaik you cant do anything to solve it except changing your ISP :(

I had old single core pc once didnt have lag at all pingwise, now i have 1200 euro laptop with 9600m GT graphcz and 2.4 duo core. my new.cfg is more high quality and now i have retarded lag zpikes

i always play 70-100 mostly 98 stable, and its good playable, especially cuz ur unhit abit then :D

a friend of mine has the same problem, but only on YCN hosted servers.
