Need Laptop advice

Since I'm going to university soon, I'll be needing a laptop. I don't know much about Apple products concerning laptops, but I've only heard positive comments. So I don't mind whether you suggest mac, windows vista, xp or whatever...

I want to have the best you can get for not more than 1100 €

asus n50vn, bestest laptop imo
u can run without problems any new games (cod5, gta4) and et @ 125 fps:D

Or will it just be for all your University needs, word processing and all dat shizzam?

not hardcore gaming but it would be cool if I could play more advanced games (I didnt say BETTER) than Tetris. as I said, it's supposed to be the best you can get for 1100 €

my brother bought a new SAMSUNG laptop for university for 600€

intel 2x2,4GHz i think
4GB RAM
Windows Vista
400GB HD

its a pretty decent laptop imo
