et + sof2

Hello, i've got a problem with et and sof2. When i'm playing on my laptop (turion 2 x 1,9, 2gb, geforce 8400m g) i've got stable fps as long as cooling is on, but when fan turns off fps are getting lower for 10-20s, and then fan starts again and fps grow... Do you have any idea what caused it? I think it's related to cpu multiplier, but don't know why it go so much down after getting colder.

I checked that gpu and cpu aren't overheated during game.
Same fps on lowest and highest settings.

You need more fans , image: xavi-fans-main.
no fan = more heat = less performence

quite simple isnt it
hmm, ok, so why fan stops?
Parent
dunno, check your graphic card settings... since its a laptop I dont know what it makes use of but there might be an option to set the fan speed/auto stop etc... if not there are 3rd party tools for this for sure
Parent
ahm bullcrap?
how does heat affect performance?

more like: change your energy profile to max power, so your fan doesn't stop working while u'r running 3d-apps.
Parent
ahm you contradict yourself in those two sentences :D if heat doesnt infect performence why should he set is fan to run all the time? and ofcourse heat infects the performence since nowadays cards either drop their performence when getting too hot or shutting down completely
Parent
i don't.
in general heat doesn't affect performance in any way (except maybe ur core is melting, but that's not the point here).

so the equation more heat = less performance is flatout wrong.
Parent
why do you have them if they do fuck all anyway?
Parent
imo fan is never supposed to turn itself off, it's supposed to increase/decrease the rpm as the cpu temp requires
Parent
Nice contradiction. Parts are going to be affected by heat, once it reaches a certain point anyway.

go to
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings
>> Advanced settings
>> Procesor power management
>> System cooling policy and change it to "ACTIVE", This should help you

soz for engrish skills
in processor power management, there's only "Minimum processor performance state" and "Maximum processor performance state", both 100%. :(
Parent
Sorry, I forgot that is only on win7 :(

Had the same problem. Basically its just overheating - which is kinda expected if your gaming on a normal laptop. You want something like a laptop fan/stand. Think mines made by belkin, just a fan that your laptop sits on, cost about £20 (25-30euros?)
temps are ok, it looks like, processor running on max multiplier, cooling, temp going down, multiplier down, cooling off, then "oh shit, it's to low", multiplier up, cooling on

when i say "cooling off" i mean fan running really slow (quiet)

XP, Vista, Win7, Mac? need freakin facts!
vista home premium 32bit, it looks that fps drops are only in opengl based games, in newer games i don't have fps drops caused by "fan work"
Parent
oh oh oh, XP user here :/!

SOUNDS LIKE U GOT AN ACER ASPIRE, OPEN CASE TAKE OUT THE FAN AND CLEAN IT UP WORKED FOR MINE.
