new processor gives low fps

Yesterday I bought a new processor (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+) and I installed it into my computer, everything worked fine untill I started up ET my FPS is between 20-40 on 3.1ghz. before I had a 1.8ghz processor and it came up to 125 fps not very stable but that wasn't a problem, first I noticed that I had to update my motherboards BIOS so I did that and I still have the low fps, I have installed all the required drivers, but I don't know if I installed them correctly ( I think so cause everything works fine except ET).

Any suggestions?

HOW ABOUT NEW CHIPSET DRIVERS?
HOW ABOUT CHECKING THE COOLER?
HOW ABOUT TASKASSIGN.ZIP?
Where can I get the new chipset drivers?
The cooler only has a loud noise.
and what the hell is taskassign.zip?
Parent
I mean is the cooler properly attached?:P
could be that the cpu gets too hot and throttles speed

set et on 1 core...
But I want full performance and stable 125 fps how can I do that?
Parent
u know that et will run on 1 core only? it wont use both...
but the prob is, that its always switching the cores now. so get so get any taskassign-prog and set et on 1 core...
Parent
done it, its still at very low fps
Parent
get CoD:MW2 then...
Parent
Haven't fixed it yet..
got a single core 3.2hz and i get around 25fps, so thats normal!
lol u serious? i had 76 stable with a 2.4ghz single core

mine is just getting old, plus punkbusterb takes 30-50% cpu speed

Nvidia control panel > Manage 3D settings > Program settings > W:ET > Threaded Optimization OFF
+1 worked a treat for me when i had the same problem
