Best sensitivity

Is a personnal best sensitivity a fact or a fairytale?

If yes: how do you know when you have found your perfect sens? I've heard some stuff about strafing while keeping your crosshair at the same spot altho that seems kinda bs to me since enemies move. There must be another way to tell if your sens is to slow or to fast to maximize the amount of headshots

If no: Just keep playing with the same spec and play so much with it, that it becomes your perfect spec ?

Play some games and you'll know whats the best sens for you!
Played alot of games and can't really seem to find it :(

No matter what sensitivity you use, you will be as good as you can get. You will get more constancy when lowering sensitivity but that's it.
:D Nice arguments but I just have to ask why?
Parent
well for a start you don't know how low/high the guy has it set to start with so you can't make a blanket statement but essentially your sensitivity represents a level of abstraction of the physical motion of your mouse; making it lower means you have to move the mouse more to achieve the same effect but has no effect on how well you are physically using your mouse ?:D
Parent
lowering sens removes human error
Parent
no it shifts it along a curve.
Parent
my bad, I was supposed to wring reduces.
Parent
:] well it can help to reduce the effects of sucky tracking but, if we say that then by the same token it can also inhibit performance :!:
Parent
I have a lot smoother aim on 4 sens than 2.8 because I have to strain my hand way less.
Parent
no way it's personal, i downloaded butchji's config and i was immediately med+.
Where can i find that :o?
Parent
lol. next you must make topic what is trolling:D
Parent
make 360 in 2 turn of hands & be stable aim in 1ON1 for be Best sensitivity ;)
i love your english mate xD
Parent
so 180 turn is your mouse sens zLOL :)
Parent
when I tried to play without mouseaccel it was nearly the best sens to me aswell
Parent
Go play on a skilled public (if it exists), watch your aim.. is it too slow following your opponent? Higher it, play a whole round with the higher.. Other way around same story, is it too low, as in you can't follow him? Just try some things..

Go to the flag at supply, use sens 5 aim the flag, use sens 1 aim the flag, what was best?
imagion it's 5, then do use 1 & 3.. imagion it's three.. then use 3 & 2.. & so on & so on.. :)
Mijnen tactiek uit de doeken doen godmiljaar :p Mijn aim training is wel nie zoma gratis é :p

gij wist niet eens meer wa ge vertelt had :D

90 fov sens high sens

win
sensitivity has way to many factors to have a best that gets you good quickly.
Some things I'd say are usable in finding your best sensitivity:
Lowsens:
+ quicker to get used to
+ longrange shooting is abit smoother
- the first period your arm might feel very tired as you to big movements
- you need more space on mousepad/desk
- closerange the enemy moves very fast so tracking is abit harder
(-)when i used lowsens i strafed(my own movement) was alot less fast as lowsens is slower then your body speed

Highsens:
+ shortrange/medium tracking is smooth
+ quick turns are easier(for example a backraper when you have obj, might save you)
+ less space needed to turn
(+) I use highsens and it makes me strafe better as i can keep up with my mouse
- longrange aiming is abit harder as you need to make very small movement
- people say this is harder to get used, mather of 'talent'

Best example why highsens > lowsens:
You see alot then when you strafe alot to the right or left(like run a little circle around a lowsenser) he will stop aiming at 90 degrees because he ran out of mousepad, has to pick up his mouse, and start aiming all over.

I can do 460 degrees on my mousepad. left to right(28 cm mousepad)
according to this playing with mouse accel > playing without mouse accel
Parent
Well people who play with mouseaccel(ingame one not windows ones) say its really nice. I never used it so I wont claim so. Mouseaccel gives lowsens users a good plus on turning yes true. on the other hand, mouseaccel is something most gamers hate and its very hard to get used to if you havent used it since you started.

Lowsens+mouseaccel is good but the closerange issue stays a problem as a enemy only walks to right for a shortperiod, mouseaccel kicks in for a longer turn. and the player moves at same speed. mouseaccel keeps going faster so ull go to the enemy then over him as ur still getting more accel ;).
Parent
I played 3 years with mouseaccel, liked it pretty much!
Parent
i can turn almost a 360 on +/- 30 cm
but i can make a quick 180 turn aswell?

so why is turning hard with a low sens if you get use to it?
Parent
Because that is not really a low sens imo.
Parent
well 400 dpi sens 2.07 = 28 cm for 300
dunno if thats not low but i think so
Parent
no it's not. 2 is quite high still :D (or mid-sens) I currently got 1.15 with 400dpi, 6 win sens and mid setpoint. (mx518) and it takes atm 50cm for 180 degrees.

That's quite slow sens imo :)
Parent
Best sensitivity is 1.
not this shit again pls
take a sensitivity you can make 180 pretty easily.
a sensitivity which makes you capable of doing 360 degrees on your mousepad
i switch between 2 configs, they have pretty similiar sens since i just change my DPI, 0.55 to have "slower" and 2.5 to have "faster" only difference is acutally that 0.55 has more negative acceleration, and yes, presonal sens can only be found by playing, you play with some sens for day or two, if it does not feel to suit you, speed/lower it up a little bit :)

ps. 2.5 sens atm since it owns :)
r_mode -1 (1440x900), fov 100, sensi 2.6 with 800dpi and 500hz
kids today care way too much about config and whatnot.

sensitivity 5 since the first day.
also when you got busted?
Parent
yes also then.
Parent
So far great replies, thx for that guys!

And to the haters: Stop crying, many people actually are in the same situation as me. I'm not planning on mindless taking over a cfg from someone, im just asking HOW you can see once u have found your perfect sens.
you're welcome, if you want aiming school pmme
Parent
its a fact ;) try different values of sens then pick the one you managed to get best headshots more frags with dont focus much on accuracy first, keep practicing with the same sens dont change it everyday;) maybe later youre gonna roll hard then you better focus on accuracy ;)
im lowskilled you dont have to listen to what i say but youre question doesnt make SENS actually :p since no answer here on crossfire is realy going to help you either
pick any
get used to it
...
profit
I'd say pick a sens and stick with it! Slow sens has its own strenghts and high sens has its own.

Ive worked for years to pick the sens that suits me but very often when I play it feels too slow or too fast. I'd prefer using bit faster sens but ET recoil prevents me from using it because Im not able to track as well.

In my oppinion optimal sens would be 30-40cm / 360 but it depends if you aim with your wrist or whole arm. Im trying to aim with both which makes me an unstable aimer because for example if Im rly calm (drunk or just got laid or smt:D) my sens feels rly slow. However if I got stress or I have needs (want to smoke or such) my sens is fast and I overtrack especially in duels.

Well now im calm (drunk) and trying to advice you, but im failing because of substances that fuck up your thoughts. Anyways my point is pick a sens and stick with it!
Im going to mcdonalds now since im hungry...
pick a sens and play with it, you'll learn to aim with it with practice

if you really want a statistic, anywhere between 180degrees to 720degrees over45cm can be used well, and some (e.g. xylos i think?) use even higher and aim like beasts, so ye, practice
"some use even higher and aim like beasts"

Bozar!

Personal stuff
r_mode 4, fov 90, sens 3.8, 450 dpi, 500hz, +- 28cm for 540
high acc =sensitiity
500 dpi - 1000 hz polling rate - 7/11 windows sens - at 90 fov = 2.2 in game sensitivity
Go play and record demo. When that is done check the demo with low timescale and look if your aim is after your target or is it ahead of your target. If it is after: Raise sens. If it is ahead: Lower it.

Also cl_mousaccel 0.016 can help with lowsens
sens depends on a few things imo
1. what kind of mousemovement u have ( move only ur hand or play tennis with whole arm )
2. mouse that u use
3. expierience in tracking (means not aim) more the way if u move ur mouse how exact u move it

and at least try to start with sens 2 for example if its to slow / fast change it in steps from 3 days couse u need a while to say its ok or not , if u think ur good in tracking and have a stable acc like the most players ur on the right way to find UR perfect sens
