I don't actually use the full pad, just a small area on the left side. My hand is constantly lifting the mouse off the pad and replacing it when doing big turns.
Your answer is somewhat ambiguous, I'm assuming you mean 7th notch (for Windows sensitivity) which correlates to a registry value of 12. On the other hand, if you do infact mean 7, as you said, then that would correlate to a notch halfway between the 4th and 5th (you can only set even number values with the slider), therefore your sensitivity would have to have been set via the registry.
I think for higher sens you actually need a bit more dpi(feels much more smoother to me), but when you have rly low sens, you should probably use low DPI
But I change my DPI settings too, usually my not-in-game DPI is 2000.
When I game, I switch to a predefined (by my G5 driver) setting which gives me 1200 vertical DPI, but still normal (2000) horizontal DPI.
