The Departed hardly has an original plot since it's already been used in the 2002 movie Infernal Affairs. It's quite possible that The Departed is the better movie of the two, but it's sad when the best that Hollywood has to present is a remake of a four year old movie.
Parent
true, too overrated, leonardo dicaprio + matt damon = "must-be-good-movie" =/
Parent
first one since "blechtrommel" 1979 in that category "Best Foreign Language Film of the Year"
btw who won 4 years ago and which one?
"Auch die Oscar-Jury war gerührt, denn "Nirgendwo in Afrika" gewann 2003 den Oscar als bester nicht-englischsprachiger Film."

damn damn damn wham wham wham.
I must say I enjoyed Blood Diamond a lot more than The Departed, great movie however. Maybe it's because of the genre.
imo doch (:

"Das Leben der Anderen" ist der erste deutsche Film seit Caroline Links "Nirgendwo in Afrika" (2003), der mit dem Oscar ausgezeichnet wurde.

Sad to see that Infernal Affairs did not receive any western credit whatsoever and now scorsese gets an oscar for a less brilliant film :(
totally agree ):

the departed is a great film

The Departed wasn't as good as the whole scene is screaming, it's better than normal movies, but most certainly doesn't deserve this much credit.
So low- for Departed to win something :/, it's not that good movie, also it's a compleate remake of Infernal Affairs :/

Laberinto del Fauno, El - was nice, glad that it won something
Babel - also wasn't bad

Haven't seen rest ones, exept pirates of caribean, which is shit.
#care :p
oh noes no mission imposible 3 ;(
I was hoping for more awards to babel :{}
