As i dont have enough right to open a poll on CF, i would like to ask you your opinion about the map list for the next CB ET SW 5on5 OpenCup Fall 2011 ( format will be approved during the next few days )

The map list for OC Spring 2011 was :

Personally i would like to add : et_village > discuss

PS : dont argue about useless things or ladder 6v6 ( opening and news soon ) just give us your opinion.

it's from rtcw but it's not rtcw only cause et is "rtcw" in any kind of way.
bemen is ok as well i don't care if ufo or bremen is in the mappool cause both maps are great but it's nice to see that old maps which were played in rtcw are now in the mappool in et.

maplist should be smth like: supply, goldrush, radar, bremen, karsiah, adlernest, frostbite. I cant imagine playing et_ufo, et_beach and tc_base in 6on6 format, b4 and delivery are also shit maps. But could fun to see et_ice back in, like in old days
" et_ufo, et_beach and tc_base " were build for RTCW for 8on8 multi reduced to 6v6 for the major cup

et_beach and tc_base are both kinda ok in 6on6. though base can be quite hard to attack, et_beach is imo harder to defend than to attack, but ok none the less

it is, no matter how you defend it, against equally skilled team harder to defend than to attack IMO, not just if you defend at the obj, also if you stay at the staircases or even stay outside at times. at least with the current spawntimes

Huh, I don't know you, so I've no idea about your knowledge of et community / scene. I was just guessing :) There is no reason to be mad.

Its a bit odd that you have no idea who I am (I mean like never heard of, there are shitloads of players I dont know but I know they exists, for example I dont know who you are but I noticed you are here and for kinda long time) but it doesnt rly matter. What matters is that all those 3 maps I cant imagine in 6on6 (well, its not like I am not able to do so, its just I cant see them to be competetively worthy) are no match for another 6 or 7 already proven maps. And there are also few maps that could be worth of trying (but I dont think long term league like OC is the right place to test them in). If ppl wants to bring something old back, there are other good maps worth of some refreshment (sw_battery was nice, as well as sw_oasis).

I personally rate maps like this:
a must - supply, goldrush, radar
no harm will be made by including them - bremen, karsiah, adlernest, frostbite
worth of try - mostly new maps like pirates, erdenberg and so on
worth of revive - sw_battery, sw_oasis, maybe et_ice, I enjoyed playing them because there is a lot of room for 6 players
love it or hate it, but always a reason to whine about - braundorf, delivery (I hate b4, I am ok with delivery)
proven to be "shit" - mostly unbalanced or public oriented maps (either too big or too small)

as you can see, I named like 14 maps which are already part of maplists for long time, looks promising for future development or were kind of fun back in days and could actually work now with some minor tweaks. I am not saying my opinion is perfect (or should be taken into account for that matter), neither is my rating system, but its strange that in 10 maps pool we have 4 pretty much unusable maps, 2 shit but playable maps, 2 lottomaps and 2 balanced maps while there are 3 or 4 good and solid maps which just got left behind for no apparent reason. If it was some ODC, then whatever, but this doesnt suit for the most prestigious league in ET.

It's not like I've never heard about you, I know that you played in a team with Clown and with zMk (I guess that's all), but I still cannot be 100% sure about your 'ET knowledge' :)

I agree that battery was a nice map, but it was too easy for axis to defend - map was not balanced enough.
sw_oasis is one of the most awesome maps in ET history - pretty well balanced.

You are right: supply, goldrush and radar are a must.
Bremen is also a nice map, same goes for adlernest (which is obviously not a lotto map) and frostbite. I am not sure about karsiah - first stage is pretty random I mean that's stupid you cannot open the fucking doors when you get the suit.
Never played pirates, so cannot say shit about this map. Erdenberg, well... big yes for 3o3,
I am quite sure that it won't be that exciting in 6o6.
I wouldn't go for et_ice now, ET is mostly played by retards and morons nowdays, so it wouldn't be that nice like it used to be in 2006.
Personally I really enjoyed playing braundorf (even though I hate this map), easy to play and well balanced map - and obviously you cannot say the same thing about delivery where axis can easily defend the objective.

Your rating system is good enough. And well you are right about mappool it should be better. There shouldn't be more like 6 maps.

frostbite
supply
sw_goldrush_te
radar

I agree with that the best mappool would consist of 6 (maybe 7) maps, your suggested mappool is the best possible imo (with bremen over b4).
To comment to ur karsiah issue with flag stage, well, yea, it can be pain in the ass for alies, but its same for supply first stage and gold first stage, you need either luck or good timing to pull it off. And ofc not being able to open those doors in disguise is big fail. But with some minor tweaks, it would be another pretty decent map.
And about et_ice, I actually never played it in 6on6, but Its built well enough to provide nice room for various tactics. The problem is, with todays config mg could be heavily abused, and that can ruin a lot of fun.

EDIT: hmm, I just realized that OC is gonna be still in 5on5, so some of my points are invalid :P

I wouldn't compare goldrush and supply to karsiah. You can easily go for tank @ grush with some nades, or just by some quick rush, or just by pushing the back way.
@ supply you can kill 1-3 guys with a panzerfaust (if your timing is good), and you can do some kills with riflenades, or just by throwing some nades from cave.
Both maps are balanced, I mean rifle on both side (axis and allies) can be really useful and rifling guy can do some easy kills.
You have to agree with me that on karsiah axis rifler is more useful than allies rifler. As ally you have to shoot rnades in some big rooms, and as axis rifler you stay in a big room and all you do is spamming some small rooms or narrow corridors.
et_ice is fun to play in 6o6 (won't be the same in 5o5), played some games agaisnt decent teams long time ago, would be awesome to play it again
MG actually was abused in many 6o6 games, but it forced ppl to change something fast in-game so mg, wouldn't do that damage anymore ;) and game had to be more flexible, you know what I mean, right?

only difference between karsiah and supply/goldrush first stages is that supply and gr has been mastered by teams for years, pretty much everybody knows what to do. I am not saying karsiah flag attack is by-the-book example of how it should look like, I know of some improvements which would make it much more playable. But still, its decent map and its keeper for 7th/8th spot in maplist.
About the mg, I have no idea what lead ppl to reintroduce this thing in competitive gaming, but I strongly disapprove this step. Its not that hard to abuse it, in many maps and it doesnt require any kind of skill (maybe even less than mortar). Its good thing to make teams to play more flexible, but not by engaging static element as mg is. But the good thing is, most new players have no experience with mg in cws, and have only foggy idea of how big advantage it can give to teams so it wont be used that much I guess.
Anyway, we could talk about maps, changes, (un)balance for days and we wouldnt reach a final decision of whats the best, lets see how it will turn out. I just hope players will decide whats the best for themselves, not admins who dont play for players.

Part about mastering supply and grush is right. Cannot disagree. Karsiah is nice map, but as you said it needs some improvements which could make this map more playable.

EDIT: Somewhat related. Why not older version of Oasis, it is so annoying now because of the near-allies spawn. Axis defence has to be inside the fortress, not much variety there :(
