Airstrike pattern?

Im wondering if anyone out there know the answer to this.

Is there any written pattern on the airstrike of Fdops? On where the blast hits and such?

U mean artillery? I think the first "blow" comes 5 seconds after u set the artillery, not sure tho

if u watch forward, the blasts will follow from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen.

so lets say i throw the airtstrike on last stage goldrush as axis in front of the bridge from my spawn. then i move to the front. in which direction will the airstrike go?


i mean if i throw it to the front and move left. then it will come from left to right.
if i throw the airstrike and dont move at all then it will also come from left to right.
but what about throwing to front and moving to front (or back)

the airstrike will always be in a 90°-angle to where you are at 'on my way'

Doesnt matter if you move left, right, back or forward. The strike allways hit from left to right. And as said, angeled from when on my way is heard.

When the voice says "on my way" it will hit from left to right just in front of you.

Hell just go on an empty server and throw a can out, you'll get it
What i mean is, The artillery. Is there a pattern on where the bombs fall down?

You could find a map with an open flat area (perhaps library, railgun, some random pub map) and then call an arty with wallmarks on (cg_marktime, or something like that), and see how it lands.

I assume there's a pattern to it, but I've never actually bothered to find out.

Airstrikes 2.5 secs before the spawn since the spawnprotection takes 2.5 secs aswell so you will hit them right after. Its about your feeling since there is no milisecs in the ET timer. Also remember that the smoke of the airstrikemaker goes from south to north on the standart maps and the other way around on the new maps. (Atleast its mostly like it) Good if you want to hide your airstrike somehow. Also, there is always a 5° difference in how your airstrike will hit, so dont expect always that you hit with it.

Use the arty if you want to block areas. Most of the teams wont run in it anyway :-)

Supply is the best example, 13 secs before you respawn. Then the enemy team have to run into the full explosions if they want to get in and your team have like 3-5 secs to setup on the stages.

Anyway, the best thing is just to spend some time on a server to try stuff.

i rather set the arty at 10 sec before spawn.

ur mates can rush out, which means they will push allies back abit. Then axis selfkill, and allies still has to wait 3-4 seconds after axis respawn, before they can jump in, as there is still around 3 hits from arty still to come:)


if you put it at 13 seconds, the last blast will hit same time as axis spawns, which is enough time for allies to take control of lower level.

but hey, we all do it differently.


sometimes i like to focuse more on allie spawn than axis spawn, and put the artys around the time allies spawn, cause then it will hit right when they are trying to rush in. Depends on how aggresive or defensive ur team is.

I think that the smoke goes in either 2 directions and these are not shared along all players.
My teammate saw the smoke flying in one direction, I saw it in the other direction.
At least that's how it was 2 years ago when I noticed that.

If I remember right, you just cannot block the smoke like some ppl, me including, thought some years ago. Its only invisible for yourself.

But about the direction, I think it depends on the map. But hey, Im pretty long out of the business, so maybe Im wrong :-)

I can confirm that with the smoke amount. That's only a reduction on the fieldops' screen. :S

Artillery hit spots are random.
Really? When I run into the arty it always hits me instead of empty area beside me :(((((((( I think I am arty magnet.

Didn't know it myself, so I actually just tested it on a local host. Set 5 artilleries and they all came down differently. Once they almost just hit the center, another time they were totally off target.

There might be patterns, however there are at least 5 of them, so basically it's random.

It MIGHT be different with the Global CFG but I doubt it.

It feels like that if you are standing near to arty it will more likely hit you instead of any random spots. I guess its placebo then:D

Probably, doubt they change directions if players are nearby. From a fieldops perspective it also seems like it NEVER hits where it should, while from the other players' perspective it ALWAYS hits. :-D

im an arty magnet too, 5 teammates ran in front of me, i came 1 sec later and i got killed. Next map i ran first and i was the only that died to it :( And this repeats every single time the enemy team has arty set

im a magnet to every explosive weapon in et, especially fucking rifles :( always gets me no matter what i usualy die more by spam than smg in my games :D

conclusion, dont walk in normal patterns, since its obvious your ez to hit for spam

I always get hit by the last arty, eventhough its not even near the area where the others fell down :P
