Answers & Notes for CPC2
Over the past weeks, players have been asking various things from rulings to the smoking policy in the venue. To give everyone the opportunity to read all the answers, I have put them all together. I ask everyone who has questions to post them here. I will add our answers here, so everyone will be able to read it.
Questions from the community:
What is the deal about the drivers?
You can basically install anything you want on these computers to find your right mouse and keyboard settings. To be absolutely sure you can do, you need to provide yourself with these drivers and software by uploading them AND putting them on a usb key.
Answering the question on the Forceware drivers. Although I do not know this for certain, the forceware drivers are the ones that should already be installed along with the gfx cards. This will be the latest working version.
In case you want to install an older or other video driver, we kindly as you not to install these as most people will not be skilled enough to put this all back in a timely fashion. The difference between the older version and the most recent ones currently only have slight improvements that do not outweigh the hassle for other players to mess with installing other ones after you.
However, the NVIDIA Forceware drivers are the ones that should be running on these computers by default.
How much space am I going to have?
Based on the designs that WZZRD has provided us with, each game will have a table of 60 cm. This length will also be used by the TFT, but other than that, the rest is at your full disposal. With some common measurements, it should allow you to have your elbows resting on the table and still be able to have your arms pretty much strechted.
In between each gamer's "center line" 80 cm will seperate the two players. This means that from the middle of your body, your neighbor's nose will be 80 cm away from you.
In comparison to TGS space at CPC1, the tables without monitors had only 26 cm left for mice and keyboards. Now you should have much more. More information will follow if i get any.
How do the matches proceed?
As you might have seen the schedule by now, we ask teams to make themselves known to the head ET/CoD2 admin about their presence 45 minutes prior to the game. This is MANDATORY.
Due to a pretty full schedule, we will be very strict to have all matches start in time. Players will have 30 minutes to setup and warmup, however once those 30 minutes are over, the match will be started preceded by the random map draw. Once that is done, both teams will have one more minute before the match starts.
Note: Practice installing your mouse and keyboard a few times, to decrease your precious setup time and have more time to warm up
Concerning ET matches, there are no breaks between the first two rounds, but in case of a decider a 5 minute break will be allowed if both teams agree.
Can I smoke at CPC2?
Officially, this is still a Dutch cafe where smoking is still allowed. Even though, it is currently still allowed to smoke, we are talking with WZZRD to make the venue completely smoke-free to cater the larger majority of players.
Is it free to come and just watch?
Simple answer is yes. However, if you want to have a right of way in the cinema halls during the finals you need to be a member of crossfire. For security reasons, players and other attendees will get badges so they are able to walk to the appropriate cinema hall in the Cinestar building. Make yourself known with the designated admin to get such a badge on friday.
Some additional notices for players and attendees:
Contact information
We ask every team captain and manager to mail us (cash at clanbase dot com and tosspot at gmail dot com) their phone numbers allowing us to be able to contact you if need be.

Setup of game stations
We are very much aware that the setup times are limited, however (based on our previous experience at CPC1) most problems and delays are not caused by faulty equipment but by the lack of knowledge and routine to poperly install your keyboard and mouse.
We urge you to deinstall your drivers and settings a few times from your current computer just to find out in what order you should install certain things when you are trying it.
I cannot stress this enough, but after 30 minutes of setup time, the matches are a go, so it is in your interest to get this stuff nailed down so you will not be stressed for time during the event. It surely is not a big effort to try it a few times to find the proper procedure.
In addition, bring all your drivers and configs on a usb key and upload them somewhere. At this time, you will not be able to use any CD's for installing your stuff.
Food and Drinks:
WZZRD has been nice enough to bargain a Crossfire discout with one of the restaurants in the building.
Full details on what will be offered will be given at the venue, but be sure to check it out as it can save you a few precious bucks without having to do anything for it.
In addition, there will be a discount on drinks at the WZZRD cafe for players and crossfire members. You will be getting 12,2 % of your drinks (ye i like exact math :P) When you buy a strip of 10 beverages you will get 2 euros off from the normal price of 17 euros. Since most of you guys are in groups, anyways, this should be an easy deal to go for.
Coverage
As we are trying to make the Crossfire LANs bigger and ultimately boosting ET and CoD2, we ask you to consider the fact that you will be filmed by a production crew. It might occur that you will be asked for an video interview. We ask you to make yourselves available for this in a somewhat professional manner.
It surely doesn't have to be strict and serious, but foul language is something which we cannot beep out on the live stream :P And it won't look good to our potential sponsors for future events or eSports in general. ;)
Cheering, grouphugs etc. is all allowed of course ;)
When you are spectating the match, please keep in mind that our camera crew will be trying to film the players so please give our crew the room they need to make this event also worth to watch to the outside world. Listen to the request and instructions from the Multiplay and Crossfire crew.
Other than that, we order you to have fun and enjoy our event!

edit:
16 photos of all teams will be a great idea too.
Or do the players after have to uninstall any extra drivers as well?
It hardly should ever be a problem that multiple drivers are on a computer. The only thing that matters is that the correct ones are running, hence why they need to be installed in proper order (and rebooted).
For now, it will be your responsibility to get the new drivers installed over the current one, which again, should not be a problem.
With turn around times of only 30 minutes, 15 minutes restoring is a long time.
or no cola zr0 for you :P
Member of the site.?
In Ireland and Norway there is a smoking ban in indoor public places (pubs, restaurants, airports, train stations, etc. etc.), I'm not sure if it exists elsewhere in Europe, I think it's great though.
surprised?!?!?!?!!!
What would you do without us? No more whine about ppl killing you with their second hand smoke, no more cruel stories about your family who died cause of cancer, no more ppl faking astma attacks or couching because 10 meters away somebody lights a cigaret.
What a boring world you live in :/
However, I don't care at the lan for smoking, since I won't be there..
Anyway, on trainstations in NL, smoking is also disallowed.. Its only allowed as long you are standing 3 meters from a "smoke pilar". Fucking laws :<
I knew Ireland was the first country that started with it, but I hadn't kept track of other countries who have introduced it.
You've gone a long way the past months mate.
So the bigger the crowd, the better it will be for ET and CoD2 :)
And do you HAVE to bring your keyboard with you? Cause mine isn't that young and fit anymore....
I do urge you to practice reinstalling your mouse and keyboard.
There will be more people outside than inside. Just create a corner/room where you can smoke. That way everybody is happy. Do they sell beer at CPC2? :P Tell them to store a lot.
One more question:
The keyboards we can use at WZZRD Enschede, are they the same keyboards as the ones @ WZZRD Utrecht?
Proc: Intel core duo E6300 1,86 ghz
RAM: 2x Crucial 512 mb DDR2 PC2-5300
GFX: Point VGA 7950GT 512 PCI-E
HDD: Maxtor 250 GB 7200 rpm SATAII
Mon: Samsung SM 960 BF 19 inch TFT (4 ms GreytoGrey)
It's easy to uninstall something you instlaled yourself, but uninstalling some weird registry hax that someone else installed is damn near impossible.
lets make a private channel, where every attending teams are in :>

Get used to it. CRTs just cost way to much to transport / install / etc
Will it be finished as fast as the quakecon one? :D
