Serious problem - can't connect to pubs?

Hello men,

I have a problem with my ET - for some reason I can't connect to public servers which have scripts, such as Hirntot and HBC. It goes awaiting gamestate, connecting (with loading bar etc), then "server disconnected for unknown reason".

this is the error screen (and it has different yellow bits each time I connect)

It's fine with private servers etc, so it's just weird that this is happening with publics. Anyone got any solutions?

At the background on right it says about empty CD-key. So prolly your punkbuster installation is fucked. Reinstall PB and get ETKey if u dont have one.

That text on the background about an empty CD key is a general info text added by ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~zz_etkey_mjss.pk3 downloaded when joining HBC. You will get that text regardless of the reason the server dropped you if you have this file in your etmain. In this case the only info actually provided by the server was "Server disconnected for unknown reason" which gives pretty much no clue.

Even so, missing ETKey or PunkBuster is still most likely the reason for not being able to connect to publics while private servers work fine. :D

You probably don't have PunkBuster. It's usually the only difference between public servers and private ones.

Either use http://wolffiles.de/filebase/ET/Tools/ETPunkBuster_Setup_And_KeyGen.zip or just install ET again from https://cdn.splashdamage.com/downloads/games/wet/WolfET_2_60b_custom.exe and copy your mod folders and maybe some maps if you don't want to download them again.

The warnings about missing shader images are irrelevant.
