punkbuster problem vista

every time i join one server i get kicked by punkbuster: "server disconnected- has been kicked via punkbuster (for 0 minutes) Restriction: service abnormality"
anyone know how i fix it? i have windows vista

ET has never worked after i got vista:S I have updated my punkbuster and i am runing ET as admin. do you know what the problem is?

no i don't.

googled a bit for the error, it seems like it is a pb related error that doesnt occur on non pb servers. there doesnt seem to be an easy fix for it afaik. you could try getting a troubleticket at evenbalance: http://www.evenbalance.com/troubleticket/new_ticket.php?game=et

Try downloading this file: http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

Select uninstall and connect to a server. Works for me, though I don't get the same kick reason as you. Still worth a try.

ETQW install punkbuster as a service, go to services to stop/start them or make a bat like this :

net start "pnkbstra"
net start "pnkbstrb"
pause
net stop "pnkbstra"
net stop "pnkbstrb"
pause

You need to have admin rights to stop/start services. ET will be kicked by PB if these services are running, ETQW will be kicked by PB if these services are NOT running.

create "new text document.txt" on your desktop. Copy this on txt file:

net start "pnkbstra"
net start "pnkbstrb"
pause
net stop "pnkbstra"
net stop "pnkbstrb"
pause

save

rename "new text document.txt" -> punkbuster.bat

then right click punkbuster.bat and choose "run as admin"
