Great frags, awfull music, at some parts really nice tries to edit it and synch it, then again parts with no editing at all, quality is nice but colors are fucked up.

Not as bad as I would've expected from the comments. Don't see any sense in making these "this movie totally sucks" comments when there was lots of good in it.

Let's start with the cons.. Way too much contrast and saturation, and the cfg was too bright at some points. Ingame sounds were off-sync at times and the aspect ratio was screwed up with this usual style of resizing, had to change it back to normal manually. Man, what's so cool with this flattened image, I just don't get it. If you wanna do widescreen, do it without screwing up the aspect ratio (this applies to everyone). The quality was way too bad for x264 with such a high size and ratio, over 50MB per minute.

Yet, for some reason I felt amused while watching it. The editing was quite simple but there were some nice ideas in blending freecams with the first person footage. Music was the usual stuff, but mixed with constant ingame sounds throughout the movie, it didn't bother me at all, rather the other way around. Spiced up with frags from one of the best rifles at the moment, the movie was quite enjoyable for my taste. Just fix the config problems and you'll be doing fine.

config is fixed atm, but the one included @ rar is the one i made movie on

lowered r_intensity so thas not that bright and changed capping res to 1280x720 so the aspect ratio doesnt fuck no more

wasnt as bad as it was made out to be, general visuals were poor and the over editing during frags was nto to my tastes (this is a fragmovie afterall, its nice to see the action)

from what I did see this guy looks like a great rifle, and the movie itself was not that bad at all. I liked the intro at first as it looked new, but I dunno it lost me. music wasnt so bad (I didnt wear my headphones though, just high volume with them on the table)

like Nizou has said, the visuals themself need to be changed, with some FX being "lowered" but overall I actually liked it, and have watched it twice which believe me is rare. ;)

looking forward to a next movie, and hopefully a rejigged look.

As I assume from ag0n's reply on Nizou, long comments which are grammatically correct appear skilled, so here I am, giving it a try. First of all, movies are a matter of personal taste, some like fancy, saturated, strong colors (Hi viol! :p) and some like them rather simple and clear, like me.
Deciding this is up to anyone on their own, a comment like "color correction sucks" in this case is nothing but a statement of your own preference and therefore shouldnt be rated by anyone, but reasoned by the author. What is displayed here is simply TOO dark in dark fields and too bright in bright areas (sky for example).
Another eyample of this personal preference is music. The problem here is that the music hardly added anything to the movie in my opinion as its overtuned by the hitsounds too much and hence didn't stay in mind after watching the video.
The music is of crucial importance in gaming videos in my opinion, as its the only way to deliver tension or release and that just doesn't happen here. I don't remember anything from the music except them being random rock songs.
The next point is the quality, and since I've only watched the so-called "high-quality" version, I only want to rate this one. That version simply doesn't deserve to be tagged "high-quality" as its too blurry all the time and far from being clear.
Testing beforehand might've helped. As you can see further up, I've already wondered that the Xvid version is smaller than the x264 one and it's not to debate that it is impossible that both had good quality. As I can read in Nizou's comment the x264 render was lacky too so you should've figured out how to get proper quality before.

When I read you comments in moviemaking topics here at crossfire I mostly agree with them and I see that u know quite a lot of what you are talking about but now you're wrong (or as I think, klefj is and you are defending him because he's your webartdesign mate even though you know too that he's wrong).

We are talking about 'fine encoding settings'. What I consider as 'fine encoding settings' give good picture quality with a reasonable ratio. This movie has a massive ratio and still the picture quality isn't so good. He had to use a ridiculously high bitrate to achieve even this quality and that tells that there is something rly wrong in his encoding settings.

Tiigeri movie was well encoded, nicely coloured and showed the frags very enjoyable.

well i used to get along with ag0n quite well in the past so i feel bit disappointed that he isnt capable to realize vital facts (if it was actually him writing that, tho i have no doubt really).
1. its 1,5 years or so old
2. back then there was not a sense for HD rendering compared to now
3. there weren't the tools such as camtrace
4. there weren't these oh so famous people to ask with the huge amount of knowledge hannes (say what you want, he's done his homework) for example has which people nowadays tend to exploit too much (from what i heard)
5. my own hardware was way worse than what i supose you have today
6. this was my fricking very first movie (apart from the trailer i made for ramin <3), it was one of those nooby 2 months videos, and it obviously is nothing less than your 3rd (iirc) + another tigger behind the trigger was meant as a fun movie, at least that was what i planned it to be

as an uber-serious guy my reply to the uber-serious comment is:
1st. i agree to the first statement (about the too high contrast and saturation) but its as u said a personal taste and i like this colors (maybe its a bit too much @ gr)

2nd. disagree @ crap music, but its still a personal taste and i rly like these songs

3rd. disagree @ blurry quality (maybe this got fucked up by rar suckage on ftp, i dunno- mine works rly fine and is quite sharp)

4th disagree @ bad compression - making the movie 50mb/ min was what i was aimed at, not caused by poor megui config, which is rly nice (encoded sarna movie easily for same res and even higher fps for 35mb/min), while the connections and the filesize are not the problem, i wanted to make the clip as lossless as possible. dont forget you still have a 22mb/min xvid version

if u wish, i can render a nice looking 30 (+-) mb/min clip for 720p 25fps just for you, if u dont believe this settings

5th. kinda (+-) disagree about the bad xvid compression.
the xvid sets were taken from the sp movie- aerodynamic 2 and, dunno why, code the same bitrate for lower size (both x264 and xvid are 7k bitrate), xvid looks good, maybe not better than x264, but the difference is really small (only some artifacts in intro- lowered opacity of the clip blended with the book kinda pwn xvid atm, also dont forget its a rather old codec, imo worse in coding hd than x264

i never said the music was crap. i just said its overtuned by the ingamesounds and therefore didnt add anything to the movie as it was kinda unrecognizable, and concerning the saturation i have to say that the colors werent ugly or so, i just said its unfortunate that some areas, especially on darker maps tended to be too dark. some better curves mightve solved the problem and this is something i personally would spend time on fixing.

It was a enjoyable movie to watch. The frags were really nice. Your active in your editing and I like that. But you can get better and for that you first of all need a better config and more careful choise of music. This is the main thing that ruins this movie.

I might have seemed ungrateful in thoose logs klejf posted, let me asure you I'm not, I know it takes alot to make a good fragmovie, since I tried by myself once before, but failed because of numerous things I missed, and didnt have time to learn.

Personaly the movie is kinda too fast for my taste, and klejf did leave out some frags so I can whine about that! Eventho it took me alot of time to arrange and upload the frags for him, and the music is the way it is because I didn't have alot of interest in it before the end. :D

frags 10/10 !! soundtrack was very nice too.
count it to my favourites.

soundtrack was crap and really shoulda played more in line to the frags he was making

i felt like i was watching ETTV replays cos I could hear hitsounds more than the music. I had to turn my my sound full volume to hear the music aswell.

Frags were good and editing was good but could have been better, much better.

i finaly downloaded the movie

_IMO_ color correction is bad, contrast is too high (its eather too dark or too bright), some parts are oversaturated, you cant tell if the action is on night/day map
most of the effects make frags harder to see, and i didnt like them
quality is good but 50mb/min is too high, even for hd

i liked the frags =)

good movie, just wondering about the legality of the fact that you distribute pirated songs with this (without permissions I'm guessing), good movie and such... just hope that nobody gets into troubles with the soundtrack =)
