Netherlands Nuke (ETQW beta cup coverage sup)

Please could you introduce yourself, in terms of who you are, what your interests are, what you do, etc.

Hi, I'm Kevin "Nuke" Buis, 19 years old and living in the Netherlands. My hobbies are playing online games, hanging out with friends and playing soccer. I'm currently Newswriter/Editor for ClanBase and the coverage supervisor for the ET:QW Beta Cup.

How far back does your experience in coverage extend?

I'm not the most experienced guy on earth I guess, far from that. The first event I did real coverage on was in February this year, at shgOpen for ClanBase. After that I tried to do coverage for the CPC2 event in Enschede, but due to some personal problems I had to stop it at saturday already. And last weekend I did coverage on the ESWC, unfortunately not on location (I haven't got any budget for that :>)

Could you describe how you came to obtain the position of ClanBase coverage co-ordinator for this ETQW cup.

There wasn't an application for this or something. I've asked DuRuS (the former cup-sup) if he needed any help in the cup, and with my "experience" as news writer the Coverage Supervisor position would fit me best. And next to that I'm very dedicated to help out where ever I can, so it's a bit multi-tasking what I am doing.

Its fair to say that you and revengeful are new faces among the Enemy Territory scene. How well do you know know the ET community and what do you feel you can offer them?

Well, I'm not really new to the Enemy Territory scene, but probably unknown :p. I've been playing Enemy Territory since.. early 2004 I guess. I stopped playing competitive very soon after, because I can't stand losing :p. But I've always been checking out ET news, mostly about the EuroCups. I know some about the high-skilled clans, but you can't ask me "pick 10 clans from the ET OpenCup".. I won't have any idea about them. What can I offer the ET Scene.. I'll never make promises, because if I can't fulfil them.. I get blamed. I will try to run smooth and well organized coverage for this cup, trying to cover at least the "big" games (for as far you can call a match big in a beta version). With the qualifiers it's hard to get all games covered, it will be 27 games played around the same time.. so you can try to pick 1 or 2 matches. I hope.. the groupstage and especially the playoffs.
I'll do my best to get that worked out well.

What methods of coverage do you intend to employ for this cup, to help etqw advance from this early stage?

Well.. as in match-coverage we got ourselves 2 coverage partners, tgbf.tv and gamer-tv.com, who will do shoutcasts. Next to that we got a few admins (unfortunately not much) to admin matches + make match reports. I myself will try to do 2 matchreports a day (depends on what time clans wish to play etc). I'll do my best to highlight clans, do interviews etc... but it's all about time. Hopefully I will get someone to help me in this.. as I can't work fulltime. We also ask clans that are playing in matches without a matchadmin to make a report. This is what the serversponsor asks from us, as feedback.

Is that realistic though? I mean aiming to do 2 matchreports a day, in a game without (yet) TV and demo features..

It will be hard, and it fully depends on what times the clans want to play. I will have to write very fast as well. For me this will be a good test aswell, especially tomorrow with the qualifiers.

What sort of interaction do you plan for the community? how can they be involved, what sort of features will you run? eg interviews, player/clan profiles

I haven't really thought about that yet to be honest.. I think for this cup it comes a bit short to fully involve the community with. We will probably do polls on what the community want to see, what match to cover, what clan to highlight etc.. but for the rest I didn't make any plan on this yet.

I wish you the best of luck with the cup.

Thank you, I hope I can show what I am made of.
