This weekend's Infinity Gaming 5 LAN event in Birmingham, United Kingdom has come to an end with the Scandinavian Reason Gaming defeating CGS team London Mint 16 to 2 in a all but thrilling final.
The grand final saw Reason Gaming and London Mint face off on de_inferno. The final score was 16-2 to Reason Gaming. London Mint were topped as favorates to win but with a 14 round score deficit you would not initially think so.
So first off, congratulations to the Reason team who esentially play CSS in their spare time where as the London Mint play CSS as their job.
Reason Gaming showed its amazing confidence and skill with clear defined victories over both Salvo and Mint however ironicly their hardest match was agaisnt team Ebuyer, a non CGS team. The game went into tripple over time however Reason finally managed to seal the win.
London Mint lost their game agaisnt Birmingham Slavo 16:12 and so went to meet Ebuyer in the lower bracket final. The game was certainly close and Ebuyer seemed to be coping extremly well with the profesional CGS team however crazycat performed an illegal defuse whilst defending. (Details have no been released about the subject so unfortunatly i can only speak of this game from a 3rd person pov).
Now this is where i am very wary to the way this was dealt with. I agree completly that doing something illegal in game such as glitching or performing and illegal defuse should be punished however in this case he only used the illegal defuse once. Unfortunatly for Ebuyer the admins deducted [bold] 2 rounds [/bold] from the final score of the map. 2 rounds for 1 illegal round win sounds a bit unfair in my opinion. The sting in the tale was that the 2 round deducted from Ebuyers total meant that at the end of the map both teams were equal in rounds and lead to overtime where London Mint clinched to victory just winning it 4:0.
With the upcoming UK CGS draft in the coming months i think it is possible we could see a shake up with teams and players. Depending on how well Mint and Salvo perfome at i33 along with some other smaller LAN's will defenitly dictate their future as a team.
So at the end of the weekend i must congratulate team Reason for placing 1st over the two UK CGS teams along with giving my condolences to team Ebuyer who have learnt a valuble lesson that if you play with fire, your guna get burned.
Good luck to all the teams in all upcoming LAN's especially i33 which will be held in Newburry over the 21st and 24th of March.
ps.
I have hopefully made this a little more of a neutral perspective as my opinions may have been slightly swayed through talks with peers and opinion holders.

However interesting to see Salvo lose after their incredible CGS performance in source.
another good read trowa keep it up. work is just that much more bearable.
Ofc it depends if the illegal action was on purpose and the nature of the action in general..
i'm glad you enjoy it.
