As I'm sure everyone in the world knows, there is currently an American election race going on at the moment. Reading my usual www.'s one being Gaming Politics i see Obama: "Put the video games away"

NOT ON MY WATCH

Barack Obama often refers to video games portraying them as being full of inappropriate and has compared the content to that of pornography and violance, and from the look of his recent speeches it doesn't look like he will quiet down about it.

Aparently Obama blaims video games as a, if not the, reasons for people's underachievments and short comings.

To summarize Obama's recent speech, he emphasizes how dramatically the video games industry (along with television) is keeping children from striving to succeed.

Quite strong words from Mr Obama indeed. I cannot stress how much i truly do disagree with such a mind set and statement.

This is purely from my own upbringing and lifestyle and unless i am a complete anomalous result in the thread of millions of gamers world wide well kudos to me however i hope i am not.

I am currently in my first year of 6th form in secondary school, taken chemistry, physics, maths, further maths and media studies and am predicted 4 A's and 1 B in them by the end of my A-levels. Yet how can this be when i spend around about 30 hours a week on a computer playing COD4, writing articles or just contributing to my usual web sites and forums ?

Oh and, every other weekend or so i go out with friends, get conned into an occasional lunch date and may even put a bit of food shopping in there on the side if the mood strikes me...

Oh man, if Obama, or Hillary for that matter as she has pointed her finger at the video games industry once or twice for the degenerate youth that seems to linger in America win the ellection, changes will soon follow in regards to the video games industry and it's relationship with children.

But at the end of the day

I live in the UK so it will most likely not effect me ^^
