The CGS is a new format in gaming which features a newly organized gaming franchises that consist of drafted players and a General Manager. At the moment only the Northern America league is already playing the first season, other continents will see the CGS Play Offs first. The franchises have players in 4 different games; Counter Strike Source, FIFA 2007, Project Gotham Racing, Dead or Alive 4 Male and Dead or Alive 4 Female. Don't ask me why there's a difference between Male or Female players in Dead or Alive 4...
Now as you can see neither ET, CoD2 or ET:QW are one of the above mentioned games so it would be reasonable to ask why I'm posting this on Crossfire.nu since it's only a community site for those 3 games. Well I believe that the CGS is the future of eSports and that therefore we must already know what it exactly is and what it means. In the future every game might be a part of some sort of CGS system.
The CGS tries to make the franchises look like the teams you see in for example the NBA or the NHL. Every franchise has a home city and are therefore pretty comparable to teams like the "LA Lakers" or the "NY Yankees".
To prepare myself for this Article I watched a few news reports of a match between the Carolina Core and the Chicago Chimera. This show was actually live on television in the United States and luckily there were at least 3 faces I knew! The 3 commentators... Dj Wheat, Redeye and Fatal1ty. I didn't know any of the players but it sure was a spectacle, though very American. A lot of spotlights, the whole team is sitting on the side while the players from 1 game battle their way to victory. I started with a DoA4 Male match. It's on Xbox and besides the view of the battle there's also a camera targeted on the players their faces, which sometimes switches to their controllers. As I said the rest of the players are sitting on some sort of bench on the side of the studio and the General Manager is standing behind the player. In my opinion he's just acting like he's important to the player by yelling at him and giving him taps on the back, but I might be wrong. Also the players, at least the one I saw, are very targeted towards their teammates and the audience. Constantly cheering when they've won one round. A bit too extravagant in my opinion.
Well I think everyone should take a look at some CGS matches. You can find the videos on the CGS site... http://www.thecgs.com
Now I want to give you a little update on the CGS because at the moment they're facing the fourth week of the season and each team has already played 9 matches.
We'll jump in the third week which was actually played this week from Monday till Friday.
For those who don't know them; the teams in the American CGS are:
Chicago Chimera
Carolina Core
San Fransisco Optx
New York 3D
Los Angeles Complexity
Dallas Venom
good night
So his comment doesn't make any sense either.
This looks like a joke, DoA seems to be simplistic so that anybody can understand it... great but its way too limited in skill to be considered worthy of an 'sport'
CSS looks fine apart from the way its pretty boring to watch as its fairly slow and it doesn't demonstrate the skills of the players or any real tension, important for me. To boring to look at the rest
Stupid comercialised shit... wouldn't watch it unless i was directly competing and even then i'd get pissed off with the camera angles n stuff
Games like that, which have limited rule sets and finite moves take more skill to be honest.
You should try playing the game before making stupid comments such as the one quoted above.
P.S. Swoozie is king of DOA! :P
PGR3 > DOA4 > CS:S > FIFA07
That's how the games rank in importance to be honest, at least with the point structure. JasonX and Ch0mper virtually take 6-8 points every PGR3 race, and they are partly the reason why Chicago are doing so well, along with a good DOA4 pair and decent CS:S team. Their only weakness is FIFA, and he doesn't lose by that much unlike complexitys DOA4 pairs Belle (1-44 [the 1 point she won, was a technical one where her opponent clicked start during the game by accident]) and swoozie has only won one or two games.
CGS has some good things going for it, and some really negative things. The best thing apart from the money involved is probably the team format, where each team is basically a mini mgc and people who don't necessarily follow any particular player/clan or game can follow a team based on their location.
Nice to see you moving away from ET/CoD2! ;-)
When your playing for alot of money and it's something you really want to win, then it's just like any other sport when you score a goal or take a wicket, you celebrate.
