Which virus scanner seems to be the most solid one nowadays..?
I'm looking to install either Kaspersky or AVG. Need some professional advice, preferably network administrators / IT guys.

aaarrrggghhh
payed AV - kaspersky, nod32
free - avast, avira
thats what i currently use.. had KIS before that but since version 2010 i rly dont like it anymore. buggy and slowing down the system alot (especially with win7 x64 and a SSD). 2011 isnt any better.. instead of fixing the tons of bugs in 2010 they released 2011 which needs 700 major patches to be installed which you often cant even install properly without doing a fresh KIS installation (and that again brings 100 bugs).
NIS should be pretty good too. sucked in the past because of the amount of ressources it took but it should be way better now.
If u want to pay i would recommend:
Norton Internet Security
or
Online Armor (premium or pro.. dunnow which one is the full package).
if u want it for free:
Microsoft essential + comodo free firewall.
Dont like all the other AV´s (especially avira with its 700000 false-positive alerts.. altough ti would be pretty lightweight) and for the firewall: you would need smth with HIPS else u wont have any protection these days. So comodo free firewall or Online armore free firewal. Problem with the OA firewall is that the free version only has manual updates (so u always have to download a .exe file with the browser and execute it).
And there was smth else which eVo recommended me.. i think i was symantec endpoint protection
+ ifyou lag with kaspersky or have bugs etc, you must have a 10 years old PC :X
detects slac as virus always good to know it works :)
AVG shait, not much experience about kaspersky so wont say nothing about it
for home, kaspersky/avira/nod32/mcafee
For the free solution :
Antivir free edition or avast 5.0 (but antivir is just better)
+
firewall : comodo
And you can add malwarebytes for 1 scan per month only (only for the scan, free version doesn't protect)
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
And if you have a legal copy of windows, you can use microsoft security essential instead of avast or antivir.
Non-free :
Kaspersky ofc, if you know how to use it, it's fine.
+
malwarebytes for SCAN ONLY again
for ex : 1 complete scan with kaspersky every mounth and 1 scan with malwarebytes every 2 mounths.
NB : for scan with malwarebytes, do it in safemod.
I personally use microsoft security essential + windows firewall and malwarebytes. And i got no virus =)
Pretty ok imo
