After five years and many twists and turns, Microsoft on Wednesday said that development of Windows Vista is complete.
I expect a crack on thursday and a torrent to the ultimate version on friday!

At least I hope because I like fancy, eye candy shit ^^
But.. i think I need another 1 gig ram though :(

SUCKS!

people on my school tried it and they only got problems with it... its blocking downloads because it thinks they are illegal and stuff :x it were legal downloads but ok...

I can tell you you wont be able to download everything you want from torrents and download progams... it simply will block anything that it doesnt like...

tbh... just download linux :))) I am gonna do it too :p it just gives less problems then Windows

get a clue... there are loads of background changes which will make a big difference for the IT professional, i've been to a seminar on this already to evaluate it for my business and along with the latest windows server version this one will make big changes to the way you work in the office

People can read cant they, if i pay to go on training courses (well not me, my company) and seminars then i dont think coming to xfire and typing down all the brilliant features of vista, office 2007, longhorn server and sharepoint services is really what i had in mind.

However at least i have an open mind to vista instead of just saying "it sucks".

actually i never said i was pr0 vista, i'm pro the full solution if it works, vista standalone is only a medicore upgrade and not one i am rushing to go for however with longhorn server and the upgrades being made to shareportal services and exchange server their are loads of advantages... i have at least been to a seminar on this subject so have some clue what i am talking about.... how much do you know... what you learnt from a beta install... please that barely scratches the surface like that

"If it works". If it does, that's definitely good news. Anything that gets corporations et al to upgrade is.

Vista in itself doesn't suck and I like the new Office UI. But, Vista is still a massive letdown. Just look at what they initally promised and what we got...

They're going in the same direction when it comes to the actual games, too. Microsoft Flight Simulator X refuses to install on anything but XPSP2 and Vista.

cuz those are the MINIMUM requirements.

Minimum requirements for ET are Intel® Pentium® III 600Mhz processor or AMD equivalent with 128 MB RAM and a 32 MB 100% fully OpenGL® compliant 3-D video card (which a geforce2 mx is for instance) , so why would you ever need a better pc? ;-)

j/k ofcourse :-) I dont't know what the minimums requirements are... but you need a very good machine to run smoothly

and even if you have that...

you still gotta deal with the millions of protections it has to stop illegal downloads

vista actually changes his config itself to match your system. I can run it perfectly smooth on an amd sempron 2600+ 512 mb. Oh i can download just fine also so i really dont know what you are talking about

considering that they re going to control and monitoring us with motherboards chips that blocks hw with not original products/programs, known as "palladio" project (newest sony vaio already solded within it) and stop the cracked flow of all files. richest man in the world want o be more rich...

richest man in the world wants to be richer? dunno if you are aware of it but gates isn't really making the decisions over there for quite some time now. And besides that, gates is the guy that spends most of everyone in the world on charities. He can't give more than he already does cuz otherwise the tax agencies in the us will fuck him over. So he started and is investing hugely into a foundation to be able to give even more to charity.

not that I agree with microsofts policy or that I like all of microsoft's products or anthing, but just blatently blaming gates over this is just ignorant.

y charities is a well known mode for not burn his money on tax aliquotes.. instead of waste billions on overtax he spends in charities.. you should read forbes' rankings every year you can find him to the top with few others microsoft chair men with increasing gap.. this isn t charity imho... i only blame the system and Mr. B.Gates is (at least was) the arrogant "shark" that inglobed everything in i.t. and we re forced to follow this kind of system cause world run in this way.

To be fair, there are minor changes between all the versions, and he's grouped the ones which are similar (95/98/ME; NT/XP/2003 for example)...

XP can't be called the best version for sure, it's sure that the best OS is based on the NT platform, but i definetly would go for win2k. It's the most stable windows OS which is also capable of handling new games and applications most of the time.

I installed the beta and I liked it :')

Although it's a bit OTT with the security settings (it asks you to confirm _every single thing_ you do) it's still pretty nice.

Won't be changing for a while though, 'cus of bugzzzzz. I'll wait for SP1!

Doesnt it only allow you to install windows two times then the copy stops working?

Also, digital rights management is gonna suck.


The only good thing will probably be imporved security (except every coder will be making viruses for vista when its becomes mainstream) and also it will support DirectX10 for new games.

yo, im the linuxnaab too, but there are some distros like ubuntu, kubuntu, mepis and similar, and those have some features for media, so that u dont need to type huge amount of commands to use videoz & mp3 and ofc nvidia & ati cards.

still i havent seen anything that comes close to the great looks and functionality of windows mce. I set one up for my parents and its outstanding. If you want a PC in your living room for all your music, dvds, videos etc, then mce is the best out there.

been useing vista on dual boot for a while now. Had some problems with some printer drivers at first, then fixed them but i dont know how.

the media center version on vista is a lot beter than normal windows mce, so anyone currently using mce and has a spare stick or ram to throw in the machine should think about getting it
