Roy Hodgson Leaves Liverpool

QuoteAfter a poor start to the Premier League season, Liverpool have elected to part company with manager Roy Hodgson, who has left the club by mutual agreement. Kenny Dalglish will take over the running of the first team until the end of the season, starting with Sunday's FA Cup tie against Manchester United.

In a statement, principal owner John Henry said: “We are grateful for Roy's efforts over the past six months, but both parties thought it in the best interests of the club that he stand down from his position as team manager. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Hodgson also offered comment, stating: “I have found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career. I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad, to be given the time to bring new players into the club in this transfer window and to have been able to be part of the rebuilding process at Liverpool.

“The club has some great, world-class players, with whom it has been a pleasure to work and I wish the entire squad well for the rest of the season.”

Chairman Tom Werner has confidence in Dalglish’s ability to provide a strong figurehead for the Anfield club at this difficult time. “Kenny will bring considerable experience to the position and provide management and leadership for the rest of the season,” he explained.

Dalglish’s last foray into senior management was when he worked closely with John Barnes during an ill-fated period with Scottish giants Celtic, though he will be hoping to rekindle the kind of influence that saw him lead Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers to four league titles in the 1980s and 90s.

The Reds languish 12th in the standings presently and can hold little hope of reaching their goal of Champions League football. Having suffered three defeats in their last four league matches, including a 3-1 reverse in midweek against Blackburn, Liverpool ‘s goal for the remainder of the campaign must simply be stabilisation and improvement.

About time, who's going to be their manager? Benitez again?

For someone whos name is LiverpoolChampions, you know fuck all about them. I take it you're some foreigner who has never even stepped foot in Liverpool :)
Parent
do you need to step a foot into the city where the club you like is stated to be a fan?
Parent
Well would you support argentina if you're not from there? No link to the club in anyway what so ever.
Parent
there are a few i won't point due to the fact you're an imbecile that doesn't worth more than 10 seconds of my life
Parent
English? You can't even speak the language, yet you support an english club. Nice.
Parent
club =! country...
Parent
Well, it's kinda the same, only on different scale. "Supporters" support THEIR LOCAL club, e.g. I'm from Rzeszow so I support Resovia Rzeszow. I'm Algerian (well, half :>) so I support Algerian national team.

This is to be differentiated from "fans", who sympathize with clubs due to their liking. I have no problems with fans, I am kinda a fan of Barcelona, because of their playstyle (probably once it's gone, I'm gone as well), but when a fan tries to call himself a supporter, or he is talking like "we" about the club, then he sounds funny/ridiculuous to me.
Parent
also, when teams are like winning everything, and ure a fan of them, ure a gloryhunter. no liverpool is sucking hard, and hes still supporting them, id say thats a good fan. so ure argument sucks
Parent
ah, so everybody who's fan of barcelona's style of play is a gloryhunter? the worse the team is, the better its fan is?
Parent
Dunno how many real fans Barca has now, but it's obvious that Barca has a lot of gloryhunters now :D
Parent
the world is full of stupid kids :D
Parent
don't worry, all those actual barca gloryhunters will stick to manchester city in the next few years, just like it was with chelsea :D
Parent
i always been a barça fan since i was born. its my "local" team aswell since im catalan.

Thats just good for Liverpool to sell him for 30-40 millions and get 2 top players instead since he has been uber shit this season and wasnt rly good the season before.

already said kenny got the job at least until the end of the season
HILSBRA BRA?
Parent
they should make use of Germany Ralf Rangnick
Poor Roy really.. It's not his fault Liverpool has done it so bad so far. It's because of the "Benitez effect" that has affected liverpool, and newly affected Inter!
While I agree that it's Rafa's fault that club is in such a mess, Roy hasn't really done ANYTHING to help them get better :c
Parent
Rafa did so many amazing things with liverpool :P
Parent
Dalglish till the end of the season then Deschamps. I don't even think Dalglish will do a good job, ask Newcastle fans
come back to Finland, we're up for some more fails.
just before the Man Utd game, easy win for United :D
Daglish is the most overrated manager.

Manage an already successful Liverpool side, win the league.
Liverpool side ages, Pretend to retire.
Join Blackburn, get drowned in money, win the league.

I do not see the point of firing him before a game against their biggest local rivals; Chelsea made the same mistake a few years ago with Mourinho/Grant. More significantly, Liverpool are not going to be relegated no matter how badly they play, which means they should have at least given him some money to use in the transfer window as an incentive to match last season's position (also takes into account the fact that the squad was significantly weakened with this season's departures), and possibly even go further in European competition because of Hodgeson's expertise.

I do not think most Liverpool fans realise that they finished seventh last season, and more than twenty points behind Chelsea and Manchester United; sacking someone just after Christmas is a complete waste of time for a club in their position. I think they need a reality check.
Kenny Dalglish
Its best time for him to quit just before United KingdomManchester united clash he doesnt want to be embarassed =)
