what about a map, where the objective is to drive a truck from A to B ?
You would have to invent new tactics and gamestyles ...whatever :D !
It would be a bit like Railgun, but without all the boring shit... More like a funmap (such as baserace). People would have to hide behind the truck and put clever arties (only 1 or 2 fops per team allowed to prevent 24/7 arty) to stop the truck and the attacking team needs good medicskills etc etc etc. Spawntime would be around 5 or 10 seconds to make it independent of spawnkilling !
Maybe it would be a very nice funmap without camp+spawnkill then ;)

Have to drive it around in a circular track? or something from what I remember
no well it was built like a soccer stadium if i remember right.. and you drove some circles with that car.. after some rounds u won. axis had to stop you... they could build barriers too i think.
But there were tanks ofc and no trucks :D

hv 2 maps nearly planned completely, but cba to read tutorials how to make them (yet)
About the mapidea, it would be fun to play 3-4 times, but unlike baserace which is all the time a popular funmap there is no way to create variety. Every playthrough of the map will look the same, there isn't much tactic involved outside of the firefights which is something that has always been valued in baserace.
Maybe you should include some way to add extras to the truck, like if you Axis holds a difficult to defend CP they get a truck barrier or something among those lines.
maybe addons like:
- truck drives 10%, 20%, 30% faster/slower
- maschinegun on the truck
- faster spawntime
- more ammo
- truck needs less time to start moving
- the distance to the truck can be higher/smaller, before it starts moving (10,20,30%)
- ..
-more ammo at spawn You can't implement this as far as I know
-Machinegun No. Will be used by defenders
I especially dig the bigger truck-activating radius :)
The barrier thing could be done using LUA scripts if I got this right.
make a counter for each "round"
make it a stopwatch match and the team with more rounds wins
will be big success
but it would be better to count the meteres than the rounds
where the obj is to drive a trick. the map would be straight and both allies and axis are able to drive it , the first team to move the truck to the finish line next to the opponents spawn wins :o
it has to be a track, where allies and axis have more or less always the same distance from spawn to the truck

i dont know anything about mapping but a track doesnt seem dificult
This will only work when the map is big enough. Perhaps there could be a system that makes it so that the spawntimes of the teams increase or decrease when the truck moves furder away or closer to the finish line of the opponent.
e: Ow, I noticed that you got the idea of the map wrong. You're thinking that the two teams have to retrieve the truck. I think the idea is that the teams have to move the truck over the finish line on the opposite side of the map near the opponent's spawn.

Imo we need in general more of this funmaps. Just look back when we played 1-2 months non stop Hide and Seek or Baserace. If i remember right, then this were the funniest days in my Et-career, because of many epic funny moments and great actions ! :)
