absinthe in uk & amsterdam

hi everyone, how are you? had a good day? much planned tonight? nah me neither

so anyway, my birthday is coming up, i'm throwing a party, thinking of getting some absinthe for it to share around (i'm no expert, only had it twice, once as a raw shot, once properly done with a spoon n sugar n shit)

absinthe is relatively expensive here in the uk (30eu minimum online for >60% 50cl), but is it cheaper in amsterdam? roughly how much does it cost? i kinda hoped it is since amsterdam is awesome, and i know a lot of people buy absinthe abroad

i'm there next week, so may just save some $$ and get it abroad

any tips on selecting a better type of absinthe?

also, any funny experiences with it?

No funny experiences :/ just once got totally wasted with it (used to drink it with my friend before we went out to the shit parties with the rest of the ppl from our school before there were any real dnb parties in our town)

Tho I still have a sip with my m8 once in a while! so great

Finland Stubing came to town once with 35 tujon and 70%, a bottle of that and some other beverages later I couldn't understand why pizza always dropped sideways while trying to eat it. Soon I realized that I was lying at the ground, thought I was sitting.

dont think theres a big chance of finding absinthe in holland, at least not much cheaper then in the UK. I bought some bottles in spain( barcalona) when i was there with school, 85%. and i still have like 60% of it left after 3 years:P

its cheap out there tho but i didnt like it anymore after i got really really sick one day:P

ye, a friend of mine got a 50cl 80% from tenerife for 8euros... not great tbh but it tasted about the same as the 'better' absinthe i had

kinda made me hope it was the same in dam!

I've never seen absinthe in a liqour store in holland.

I've seen plenty of 80% stroh, but absinthe isn't all that common here either.
Probably expensive too.

could be he was mentally unstable because of the absinthe abuse.. hallucinations can loosen your grip on reality. Take PCP for example, it causes you to believe (on longtime abuse) that the trip/hallucination is real and act accordingly(suicides strong acts of violence.. etc).

got 85 % green/black/bue/red absinthe i tried them all. Stupidly strong shit. Never going to drink enough to test the hallucinogenic theory of it though. Also tried some 96 % Guabara from Bolivia, that was just like drinking industrial cleaner tbh. We just got it to say we did it more than anything lol. 97 % is ethanol so u can imagine the strength.

got it from Spain, brought back apple/peach/pear sours aswell. All for pretty cheap. Think for around 10 euros a bottle or something. Cant remember exactly + the strength of the pound has changed since then so it will be more expensive for you now. but even still cheaper than buying alcohol in the UK.

this la fee stuff is bottled in cz, it's just ~35euros with delivery

gonna see if i can find something in duty free @ airport, or something good in NL

i honestly havent seen it in shops around amsterdam.
the dutch are a bit weird when it comes to liquor. e.g. in supermarkets they wont sell anything that requires you to be older than 16 (meaning wine, beer and alcopops only). so you will have to go to a liquor store and its more about genever here.
in germany you can get absinthe with over 70% so just ask one of your nazi buddies to meet you in the dam and tell him to bring along some....
but honestly it isnt even that good (wont even get you that drunk either as you have to mix with water anyways and absynth isnt a hallucinogenic product anymore for many decades as it has been illegal and shit)
there are better things to be bought in amsterdam if you are planning a party

none of the things worth taking back are legal... there are some thigns you dont need a large amount of and is not as smelly as weed.
if you buy a cactus (espcially if you have the chance to do the boiling in NL) for 60€ that will make your party the most legendary ever.
also i could offer shrooms in chocolatebars. they are safe to take over borders. but shrooms are something for a small group in a controleld environment. if you ahnd out shrooms on a party 70% of the people will have the horror of their lifes.
