How much does a driving licence cost there?

Finland Here it was ~1200€ + fees & permit & pictures, around 1400€ at 2003, nowadays higher I guess. + the idiotic 2nd degree two years max later, that was around 250€ (with own car, more if you dont have one) + fees & permit & pictures again.
Portugal I paied 520€ or something, but usually it's around 700€ i guess. Depends where you live.
Parent
paid? xD my english sucks.
Parent
Oh you cheapskate-tax-violator-lucky-bastards...
Parent
you sure you wanna go that way? :D

A normal Portuguese worker usually gets the minimum salary per month, which is around 475€ if i am not mistaken. Now do the maths. 700€ = 1.5 salaries of a Portuguese worker.

How about you?
Parent
I was still at school back then, had to put all my money on it :/
Parent
same here, although parents paid almost everything for me. I only had to pay a new license because i did the signup (lasts for 2 years), but never went to school during this time... had to buy another learning license xD
Parent
normal portugeezer earns 475 euros a month... il be earning 475 euros in 4 days when i start full time work...

minimum wage in the UK = £6.08 an hour, £10,000 (11,000 euros) a year full time. which doesn't get you far at all.

wow minimum wage there sucks :D
Parent
do not make me feel bad plx :DDD

every fucking person without a university degree earns more than a typical Portuguese guy with a university degree. I'm currently finishing my licentiate degree and i do not expect to earn more than 1000€/ month at the beginning... neither more than 1200€ after a while ^^ of course it depends of what kind of job you have / where you work at etc etc
Parent
prices must be much lower in Portugal than the UK then. With a degree in business the average starting salary is around £1500 - £1800 (1714 - 2057 euros) a month from my university (top universities your looking at atleast 2500 euros a month starting and from Cambridge/Oxford its like 3000 euros + lol). im doing a masters degree now and would expect to earn more like £1900 - £2300 a month. (2171 - 2628 euros)

even with a degree and a masters degree its hard to get a decent starting job in the south east of the UK and London. Employers want you to be something pretty epic because were in a recession atm. Will still take me atleast 3 - 4 months to get a job from when i start looking and it highly likely wont be the job i want.
Parent
Paradise i see :D Although your rent is fucking expensive i see :X

I think the Portuguese problems lays mainly at university system. They allow to many students at some courses, knowing that after they finish there won't be a job... We end up having like 5000 persons running for a single position...Obviously the company tries to pay less so the choice is easy :D The opposite happens with medics at Portugal.. You need to be a genius to get into medicine, there isn't much places allowed per year... we end up getting medics from Spain and some other shit countries.

Once I heard in the News that portuguese people are the worst drivers in the world.

Like, lots of cars crashes going on there.
see i would actually say were quite good drivers, but they all drive like nutters which just makes it dangerous, i can see where your coming from tho.
Parent
lol, didnt understand last part.
Parent
In portugal the right of way = If its bigger than you, you get the fuck out the way. True story.
Parent
had a polo :)) nice wee car, but im looking at a renault megane right now, but the older ones, before they gave them the huge arse.
care, it's my second car..
Parent
then don't get such a fail car then :D
Parent
Are you talking about my polo? That was a very good car, I just sold it because I lost my job and couldnt afford it
Parent
No, I'm talking about renaults and their pathetic electronic failures, cheaply build engineering junk. But then again it's what keeps our business going with french cars coming in with problems :_D
Parent
Yes I agree they're not the best cars in the world, but as I said, this is just a cheap car that I won't be driving much to get me around when I'm not at home
Parent
What about French cars ? Issuing problems with them ??
Parent
Nothing but problems with the big 3 manufacturers :P
Parent
VW Golf or Mazda 323
subaru impreza

It's still a car most people of my age dream of. £15,000 car when you're 20, can't complain at all to be honest.
Parent
Opel Corsa B

Parent
hmmm 2k, buy a golf 2 :D
the initial cost of the car does not rly matter as much as your insurance, the upkeep and the consumption.
nobody gives a shit
Look at the comments above and below yours

sports KA. Cheapest / fastest first car you will ever run.
I bought a clio 2006 dynamic for £2,400. Was a decent little car and had no problems with it at all. The only was, was that my insurance was over £3,000 even with the clio being insurance group 2.

I advise ya to get a small engined car, 1.2/1.4 jut for insurance purposes.
what about insurance?:O

Clio !
passed my driving test today too

i have Audi A4 1.9 <3
audi a4 1,9 tdi / golf r32 <3
