explain this

V1 = 90 V
V2 = -10 V

V1 > V2 --> U12 = V1 - V2 = 90 V - ( - 10 V ) = 90 V + 10 V = 100 V

U12 = 100 V

It's easy. 90 - 10 = 80. But because it's 90 - - 10, the minus becomes a plus. So 90+10 = 100. Easy bash. You have to add the V's yourself.
What has to be explained? I mean it makes all sence

90V - (-10V) = 90V+10V=100V
- and - gives + , what to explain here 0_o
