not true X-fi can compete well against same prize EMU, m-audio etc cards in music and is the best card for gaming
but other series are "bad" and overprized indeed

then tell me what was so bad in that card and i know in ET its pretty much the same if u use onboard or some expensive gaming card but in music and movies and what headphones did u use?
i have m-audio revolution 5.1 atm and its a little bit more expensive than x-fi and sound quality straight from the card with hd555's is so similar cant say which is better revo has better drivers and maybe tiny bit better sq but its more expensive and x-fi would be better in games like quake4 because it supports openAL and maybe it would be nice to use EAX3+ in new singleplayer games

hmm, waste of money imo..

you might have a better sound quality but it wont be that amazing if you ask me

and if i would invest money on my PC i'd use it to upgrade my gfx card / cpu since soundcards wont make your pc run faster

Certainly not. When playing music i use about 10% cpu less. (p4 3ghz).
And my gfx card is pretty much ok, especially for ET it gives me 300 fps, even around 50 with UT2004 boosted to every possible high gfx setting, including physics that use the cpu a lot.
With the money I invested in the SPU the cpu load went down and that opens perspectives.
Anyway, my machine is getting old and will get a total solution soon.
