smooth ET without vsync

I don't know exactly what it is, but lately movement in ET has felt kind of laggy.

How can I get it smooth as possible without vsync? I can get 125+ fps with a 100hz monitor.

r_displayrefresh = 0 or 100? my monitor is max 100. can't tell the difference.

r_finish - off if I don't use vsync?

com_maxfps 125, of course.

mmm ... can't think of anything else.

any help would be appreciated.

use fps close to your displayrefresh to prevent tearing

not everyone can be as cool as you.
Parent
ensam is swedish word and means lonely and stuff liek that :D
Parent
sounds pretty emo.
Parent
Quotenot everyone can be as cool as you.

My point was that I think heaven is more "cool" than ensam :P
but yeah true :D

krisse is finnish and means 'stupid fag'

Who the fuck call themself lonley in Swedish... gotta be a first class moron.
Parent
Who calls himself "thanks" in Finnish? Meant kiitos in this case.

com_maxfps 100
r_displayrefresh 100
I thought com_maxfps 125 was more or less a de facto standard, to be able to jump a bit higher etc.
Parent
totally useless in CB config due to b_fixedphysics 1
Parent
+ b_fixedphysicsFPS "125"

have u ever tried 333 btw, its funny cuz u get crushed then @ trickjump maps, rly nice

100 display 125 fps 100 maxpacket
100 fps
100 hz
100 maxpackets
is not smooth.. tearing
Parent
true. standing on the garage roof on radar, looking down while moving the mouse back and forth is an easy way to see tearing.
Parent
any way to counter that?
Parent
yes a slightly higher/lower FPS or HZ. For instance 105hz and 100fps
or 120 hz and 125fps
Parent
ill try that, tx :)
Parent
fps 100 hz 102 mp 100 r_finish 1
102 hz? what monitor you have?
Parent
on most monitors it is possible to use various hz other than the "standard hz". findable with rivatuner in most cases

i use 95 hz myself
Parent
I have an iiyama vision master pro 454 hm903 dt-b.
if I do r_displayrefresh 102, it switches to 60 :(

Guess I have to find the possible once with rivatuner.
Parent
how do you "find them" with rivatuner?
Parent
driver settings -> customize button (in the 'forceware detected' field or whatever) -> custom display modes/refresh rate wizard
Parent
hmm, I looked shortly at the refresh rate wizzard but couldn't really see anything at the quick glance that I gave it that would automatically test custom refresh rates that my monitor can handle. Is there a feature that sort of scans all possible rates or do you have to try al rates manually?

edit nevermind, figured it out.
Parent
custom hz @ nvidia drivers (need the previous ones than the 90.xx)

because 100/100 gives artifacts
Parent
not artifacts, it's called tearing.
Parent
didn't know. (even if I saw it written)
Parent
what monitor do you have?
Parent
viewsonic p97f+ ! bandwidth 280, max vertical freq= 160 hz, max horizontal freq 110 khz
Parent
still wont prevent tearing. You will still see a line on the screen when moving fast with the mouse. Unless you use vsync it will never be 'tear free', i think you can even override the cb fps limit with that settings :)

To bad it gives you fps lag.
Parent
there's still a little tearing but not as much as 100 hz. It's playble.
About the maxfps thingie, I don't see how I could override the cb limit.
Parent
vsync?? :o
