You can install without a key. There was a Tutorial about it that you wont need key afterwards too.

I didn't had to activate my account when I installed the XP so I guess it was build on the XP CD ;) but I know what you mean.. I get this activation on teh original XP CD that I got and I cancled it once, just can't remember how cuz it was like 2 years ago
