was considering filtering the ignored user list in the right hand menu for 'last journals' but then as the original reply said, if you don't want to read it, don't click the link :P

that way, like the current [+] is there for comments, you do have the possibly of seeing the content exists if you are inclined to give the user a chance

force people to chose which category they want the journal to be added (football, amusement, music, technical etc) , just like news items.
