It's a laser mouse afaik. But you're right about the shape, had a copperhead a while back but it wa just supershit on every surface so I eventually sold it. Really Hope you'll have more luck.

it's a infrared mouse afaik, so I don't think it will have any problems with certain surfaces.

Well I liked it too but it wasn't performing at all on my Qpad-CT, Qck+, and my worn out Funcmat F10s. So I eventually just bought an mx518 again. I really tried to make it work by filling out support tickets but they sadly weren't able to help. :'(
