I read somewhere that professional bodybuilders and stuff have around 5-8 % bodyfat and that you can't really go below that since there is always internal fat around organs you can't get rid of and stuff.

So 6% for an amateur like alexl is utter bullshit imo.

If you have around 12% bodyfat your abs will still be visible... Checking your body fat percentage through a weighing machine will definitely not give you your body fat percentage. Instead you use one of these http://www.slimandhealthy.nl/images/crosstrainer/huidplooimeting05.gif don't know the word for them in English but whatever. There might be even more accurate measuring devices available but I don't know of any other and too lazy to research it anyway.

6% isn't as low as most bodybuilders go afaik, I think they have more like 3-4% of bf. 3% is about essential fat you need to have on your body I think. Anyway you should ask someone who knows about this then, I know jack shit about it. :)

well.. depending on if u got some muscles there or not.. most thin people got a "nice" stomach.. but on a machine with weights they won´t even do it with the smallest amount of weight.
If such a guy gets a bit fat on his stomacht u won´t see shit of his muscles :P

This is about 5% bodyfat. You can hardly achieve anything lower without getting really unhealthy. Bodybuilders use the trick of dehydrating themselves for a short amount of time before/during a contest. Which is not without risk, since it can easily lead to kidney failure or even worse.
For endurance athletes 6-14% is healthy, but keep in mind that 6% are those who look really really skinny. For normal people, even if you work out, 15% is pretty good already.
