In your video settings you should be able to select either Laptop + Monitor or Monitor + Laptop, that I'm guessing sets the priority.
i think he wants to send the video signal from his pc to the laptop and have the laptop act as a 2nd monitor to his computer (which isn't going to be possible)

he could use vnc!! its not a second screen then but he can see whats on his first screen!
Parent
isnt it about monitor => pc => [LAN] => notebook => monitor of notebook? ;)
Parent
he doesn't want a second screen on his laptop I guess. But use the laptop as a second screen for his PC.
Parent
i guess he wants to transfer pc signal to laptopt screen
Parent
thats what I said
Parent
not second but pc signal...that's different mate :)

All the same, by using ur laptop as a second screen ofc u are transfering signals to it :P
A display can only do 2 things, recieve signals and show the info from those signals on ur screen.

i dont dare aksually to put a useless post after tosspot commented
doesn't the notebook need to have the "male" part of the vga for example
its not possible but you can use vnc to watch your main screen on your laptop and you can even do smth on your first pc :]
well thats possible
found smth like this

Guess so.
IS WHAT WE NEED
besides the crappy connection the videocard of your laptop has to render everything you put on the screen, after all u are trying to loop through LAN.

One thing which also would work is ripping ur monitor off ur lappie to find the interface of ur monitor(the wire leading to ur 3dcard) then solder a vga input on it and connect it directly to ur pc's 3d card.

well it might work as option 1 but dont expect nais usage.
go for option 2 if u want better quality and less lagg.
