ETQW was different to ET, but "guys didn't adapt". What makes you think that these tards will ever adapt to anything more than usual etbot settings and 4x maps which they now know for years?
Funny enough - it still have full pubs, it still have leagues, ladders, quick cups, it's still active ... Geez... Just that most of ET-zealots can't get over the fact that there are vehicles which are OMFG NOT LIKE IN ET, doesn't mean the game is any worse. ;)
And I'm pretty sure - if in Wolfenstein will be ANY kind of vehicle which is NOT as in ET (aka scripted tank which goes just one and only route)- game will be immediately sent to hell. ^^
come off it mate. i was a pretty decent UT player in my day, as soon as vehicles came out, gues what? i jumped ship. vehicles are not a different playtyle, they make it an entirely different fucking game.
I bought it, I played it, didn't like it, nothing to do with the vehicles I just bored really fast, and from what i've read they removed ALOT of the vehicles from competition and still a lot of the big name MGC etc stayed away.. why? because its a bad game.
and please dont bother listing the mgc's that do play ET:QW I dont really care!
because their (games signed/published by id) last ingame multiplayers were like 'nothing new' or 'casual ftw'? if you think you are a casual gamer - you are really wrong, casual players DID enjoy ETQW, did you too?
then again in todays current economical climate it is essential that you look at the long term. short term thinking is what created the current recession
There is a difference - RTCW is based on probably one of the best engines for multiplayer games (and one of the best ever made overall). Do you know any really good multiplayer game based on idtech 4?
It also took more than 2 years to make ET as good as it is now (in my opinion), but it seems people are neglecting that fact.
It's pretty natural that the next Wolfenstein is not going to be the awesome competitive game that everyone wishes it would be. It would take a lot of patience, dedicated admins and modders to make it better.

Which is pretty much my opinion also, unless Raven have done something really good with the engine.
Ofc it took quite long for ET to develop as well, still I think that there wasn't changed too much in the latest ETPro versions, except those few scripts, some nicer config commands and hitounds ofc. But even before it was quite ok to play already. Most changes are still made by the configs with reducing all the spam etc and since ppl actually know what shouldn't really stay in a competition mod/game it shouldn't take so long again to "change" the newer game.
Let's just hope for the best. Atleast I don't expect the new awesome megha multiplayer game as they basically announced it with ETQW. All the hassle with the beta etc which didn't seem to help at all as the full release was just as shit as the latest few betas.

so the closed beta was rly good and needed, yet the open beta was just bs!
Its a steep learning curve to move from et to etqw. It will mostly likely be the same for Wolfenstein 2. So looks like most of the people who play ET will still play ET when the new game comes out.
ETQW is not any harder than ET, it's even way more noob and pub friendly.
Because you don't hit shit with normal weapons, you should rather take out nades and spam ppl to death, which isn't quite hard. You could also just take a tank or any other rocket shooting crap and rage half the team each spawn.
You can kill out at 29 and you'll still spawn. You have a spawnprotection of 8 seconds if you don't change your weapon, that's almost half the respawn time if you're attacking (even defending on most maps). It takes 2-3 days to get used to that, max. And probably 1-2 till you realize it's an unbalanced, crappy game with choppy movement, aiming and a really bad netcode/hitboxes.
I doubt the ppl quitted the game because it was too hard.
When I first started out I was worried that I would not be able to think of tactics that used the tanks and deployables. But as time went on it suddenly got so much easier. For the competivite side of things once you overcome the problem with tanks,deployables etc the game is much easier and alot of fun. Its all about stepping outside of your comfort zone. If we only had promod at the start maybe the community would be bigger and it would have the chance to grow into something really special.
There is alot more to think about in etqw than in ET, as there is much more going on!
I guess it's not going to "get the chance", just like RTCW players wouldn't give ET one (with ET being a lot more similar to RTCW, than ETQW is to ET).
There was lots of shit in RTCW that didn't make the MP. I mean for fuck sake, you don't see Helga running around on base trying to rape everyone with her thunder-thighs.
