boxing-pro?! :)

Yo!
I've just bought a boxing-sack and has for a while wanted to practise boxing a couple of days together with gym.

So I wonder if someone here is/has been practising boxing and has some training-tips...

For example: Spinning/run 10 minutes ( warmup ) Beat the shit out of the boxing-sack for 2 minutes, rest 1 minute, same again etc etc etc. I also have a "Jumproap" I dont know what it calls in english but I think you understand what I mean..

I have no experience at all in boxning and I've no friend who is has been training boxing.

i had a hard sack, and i had to beat it with naked hands for 15 minutes with full power :~<

had blood on my fists, then the day after after the wounds closed, i had to hit it again :~D
so wound open :~<

and so on !

jump rope is very good
basicly i advice you to buy a 10kg axe :D
and go chope woods ^_^
15 minutes with full power? I guess you don´t have that much power, you have been just whipping the sack with your ropes.

when boxing you be more hmm tierd than running 10km D:
thats why you need to work on your endurance of heart and loungues :p
rope, swimming, walking and running should do the trick
and add boxing on the sack for this

also run on mountains :p

I guess technique is very important, the way you hit the sack/opponent... I have never done any boxing, well not in a competitive setting anyways :p You should google/youtube it :p

I boxed for a few years up until i broke my metacarpal. I ashume by jumprope you mean skippingrope one of the best ways to get fit and imporve your footwork.

There's alot more involved and its pretty hard to explain your best bet would be to join a local amateur boxing gym and take it from there

hmm, you should try join a boxing gym - or just attend some boxing classes rather than joining a gym as technique is very important. If you don't learn that you develop bad habbits that are hard to improve on.

I only went to a boxing gym once and the warmup nearly killed me, was like 20minutes of jogging/sittups, jogging/ squats , jogging/pressups, jogging/ starjumps. etc etc

by the time we got onto bag work i was so tired i couldnt punch properly....i dont think the guy knew i was a noobie :<

anyway i havent been back as its a pain to get to and i dont drive yet :<

very good way to get fit tho , gl :)

If you just got a sack it wont do much good. Anyways there are few tips I can give. Remember not to hit too hard, its about how good you hit it. Learning the right technique from the start is important. Remember to move while hitting the sack and imagine is as opponent which will hit back.

The prac: 10mins of skipping rope is good for warmup.

The sack: Hit combinations:

Hit one left straight. Then new left straight but add right straight (keep hitting same scales but always add one)and eventually you will hit left st,rightst, left hook, right st, left underhook, right st, left hook, right hook. And always when hitting first you hit good smooth strikes and last one always as hard as you can. Do this as long as you feel like doing. Fast tip but will teach you how to hit.
i did kickboxing for a while some years ago and imo it would be better if u go to a gym where u have an instructor cause u will learn it right and he will bring you to your physical limits something u would never do alone at home :P
it sounds quite useless to just punch a sack in my opinion.
A good friend of mine is doing kickbox and he has instructors etc.
just go in with crazy fists swinging wildly going for a KO with every punch

kimbo is actually quite a technical striker, i was thinking more about someone like robbie lawler (yea i know he got knocked out a couple times) but he was always a dangerour person to fight against

imo join some basic course first and learn the technique, otherwise u'll just break your wrists :X n u will get nice tips from the basics course.

true it depense what you want i did time english boxing.. punching at sac was like 10min in whole training in the beginning you should more shadowboxing(is just at mirrow, doing combo and stuff faster and faster), BUT MY ADVICE would be : get some lessons first then you know how you have to stand etc... and then you can practice at home what they teach you at boxing lessons
Join a boxing gym, get proper instruction. Waste of time otherwise, you might just as well punch a wall.

just make a light boxing workout...sit ups and pull ups etc before...some jumping with a roap..u know what i mean ^^....until u sweat..then start some shadow boxing and feet movement....and after that start punching the sack...u have to be warmed up a bit...and dont forget to buy boxing gloves unless u dont want to hurt yourself...dont underestimate it! :D
i have a boxing bag i beat the shit outta sometimes when i get annoyed that my housemates make the kitchen so filthy ;)

I just want something extra besides gym, and I see it as a nice way to loose some extra-weight aswell.

säcken ger inte alls lika mkt... speciellt om du inte har nån teknik
Ah men då kan jag lika gärna köra spinning intervaller, 280 kcal/16 minuter =D

Jag tycker bara boxning verkar najs, ta ut sin ilska och slå hårdare osv :]]]
Har ett par polare som gått kickboxning också, de kanske kan visa lite teknik hur man slår och så :)

det är svårare o boxas än man tror... de är inte bara o dra till :)

utan nån teknik träning är det rätt värdelöst, så fråga nån som du känner, eller börja på boxnings träning så du lär dig grunderna... plus att det är grymt hård träning, efter ett par månader känner man sig riktigt fit
