Journals
Right fuck it. Here’s the situation – I’m sick ‘n tired of trying to clean up after these guys, there’s no point to it. Browsing Crossfire be no fun because the admins of this site constantly delete anything remotely interesting. They’ve crap judgement and there’s no point being associated with it – the number of people that’ve a clue are now outnumbered by those that don’t, or aren’t online enough to give a fuck (I blame foonr!).
I appreciate toss needs active admins to govern the site all hours, especially with the older admins taking a back seat – but this has meant the floodgates have opened and we’ve taken on people that don’t really understand what Raza created Crossfire to be, simply because they added a little bit of content, with some seemingly actively disliking the userbase.
Every second thread in the admin forum is ways to control and restrict the userbase. Every suggestion a better way to moderate content, stop posts, impose further rules, further segment things. We’ve had constant arguments in there but nothing ever seems to come from them – it’s a totally different ethos, a mindset I can’t understand and would never want to implement.
The current crop of admins are obsessed with “if A action occurs there must be B consequence”. They’re obsessed with applying every ill-thought out rule to the letter for every perceived offence. They can’t appreciate that there’s such thing as subjectivity! Nor that they're not in fact infallible.
The language rule was the beginning of the end – it created a fruitless us vs them attitude.
They’ve forgotten that they’re just another user. Hopefully they begin to remember this.
It seems like I'd need to babysit the site 24/7 to have the Crossfire I know and want, but that isn't realistic anymore - so it's best to part ways & let other people create Crossfire in their vision. Hopefully it turns out positively in the end.
So this is my toy out the pram, and my time moderating your lot as over (: it's been a while think I've done enough, but I don't agree with the way things are heading. I’ll still own the trivia…

give me your powers next time, i want to ban those cheaters!!!
ps: i love how you implemented youtube vids, also in journals, without adding any ways to control the spam you unleashed.
we will missed you :'(
his base are belong to us now, taggers!!
I disagree with the vast majority of the admin actions taken and disagree with the rules so there’s no point sticking around, the minority opinion is a lonely one and there’s only so much you can do ^^ if the majority of the active admins disagree, what can be done? I can’t undo a delete – once it’s gone it’s gone, not much point beyond that. Just frustrating – obviously been around these parts a long time and don’t like to see it go the wrong way – fought my battle, lost & we move on to fight another day ^^
The funny thing is, toss agrees with the old ways – he’s just not active enough to steer things.
is it possible there be bad admins who add friends as moderators? or conspiracy
Cadea gets that crown >.< you sucked last month !
I didn't play last month btw xD
Any more suggestions?
:D really, you guys really dont get it :D
Nvm. Still no decent suggestions?
Reason:
posting alltogether three comments to two separate journals = spam = gg
Yup, that's called spam!
Hey another example! What about the other day when I wanted to change my nick and it was denied! Come on I am only have a bit of fun!
EDIT
Its also annoying when someone posts a journal and you have something to say about it so you do. Then that person replys but by the time you go to see their reply the journal has been removed. So bloody annoying!

where is the fun ?

And I got ignored! You see how badly did it end up? :))
sometimes i get 5 points for breaking the languagerule and somtimes 100 points and 3 month ban...
i mean srsly...
there's taggers but I'm not really sure if that's the right direction either
99% of people respond positively to a pm telling them to play nice, it's a positive interaction - as opposed to the negative threatening warning points. Though maybe the current lot haven't put enough in to earn the respect to be able to do that?
Thinking on it - the wording on a warning point reminds me of a parking fine / speeding ticket... I hate that style.
what sucks in my opinion is that people like loekino post 500 comments in maybe 3 hours minutes that are total bollox, I mean he isn't even interacting with anyone, just putting random words and there is no admin around to do anything.
Then you have other people that "chat" in journals, yea that might not be a useful contribution to the community, and they get warned instantly. What was my point actually? :D
Anyway.
XEOXIS FOR GOD.
YES I CAN.
nazis man
besides that I got once 5 points for language rule if I am not wrong. Sol nuked my comments couple of times in the past, but not more than that.
But at some days there is like 10 journals posted, some of them are utterly stupid you might say, but not harming anyone and they're getting deleted by whoever. yea, ofc we don't want 400 spam-youtube-rofl-journals. But on some days those are the only content posted, don't see the problem with it (as today).
sorry to hear that decision nellie :(
this site has warning points now? jeez.. the only warning points i can remember are the ones that winghaven got for winning matches.
Just a comment on your journal nellie: it reads like proza.. this is still a game site? :P
hope I'm not included in your decision-disagreement
But sad to see you go Nellie <3
ideally some kind of "weighting" system should be implemented. you wouldn't necessarily be able to "bump" journals but those which are active and/or interesting should be allowed to wait around more than a journal that has one reply in two hours.
Also many times have I seen journals touching the problem that was discussed before where people immediately provided links to the journals it was all said before so I think it works pretty fine as it is now, and loosening the admin grip a bit would do good.
Hope you're planning on still browsing! I don't think someone else could nail the accent quite like you :P
crossfire seems to become more and more some kind of Fourth Reich (or the third one reloaded, whatever you want to call it)
no reason to delete any journal (besides maybe political ones which tend to escalate regularly), not even the journals alexl made were worth deleting them, they were more amusing and entertaining than anything else i've seen on this site so far
anyway, sad to see one of the best admins dropping his position out of resignation
hope you will continue browsing and writing, loved to discuss with you
There is enough number of decnt english speaking Poles, active enough to take this job...
And about you journal - it all began with sol being nazi-admin progenitor[dunno if its th word, vocabularys ownzzz].... People taking the job of moderating forums often forget that they were users too, and also broken the rules... Its normal that on site with such userbase as crossfire, ppl will break the rule set... The IDEA of moderating is to eliminate the biggest crimes, not every minor rule break...
But its crossfire, a site based on GOD - gray users relationship... If tosspot wants he can ban all of us and noone can say a thing about it...
PS. LOL ITS A NAZI SITE LOL
need of language knowing admin is obvious... after all who will know Polish better than polak? its needed to delete non english forums and journals... and common sense tells us its more fair to have variety of nationalites in admin crew... democracy it is called?
And looking on some current admins - they arent responsible nor mature
If every country with a different language will need an admin then you need at least 30 admins from 30 different countries + the obvious admins like Tosspot, fusen, etc... You would have like 50 admins with each a different view and attitude towards xfire. Xfire would become 'unmanagable'
Not every country (with a different language) should have an admin. That's bollox. This site needs less (5 à 10) admins, not more and nationality has absolutly nothing to do with this. Only capabilities count.
While it is truth that admin for every european county is sensless, admins from biggest parts of communty are somehow logic to me... xfire currently have 5 nl and ger admins... do you think duchies and germans are more reasonable than Poles or Frenchmen? Behind admins and moderators choose never was anything than pure friendship zone...its crossfire after all, biggest neo nazi site ever...
IMO there should be one nl, be ger pl fin ee uk and fr administrator... and one for rest of the countys... the role of admin would be then more as of supervisor... but it would decrese number of admins, and helped to communicate with users...
Besides, even if wond3r doesn't apply to these criteria, it doesn't mean that (other) admins-in-spe shouldn't apply to it.
I gotta admit that it was somehow badly phrased.
My point was just that none of ur attributes fit w0nd3r's personality.
was already doubting if it was serious but difficult to notice if its written :)
every comment you make everyone is against the poles blah blah racist, GO CHOKE ON A COCK YOU PRICK
I don't think the warnings points are a problems tbh, just the admins who have to give out warning points. Chosen gives around 35 points for spam, while others only give 5. There is nu rule set I guess! otherwise admins would know how to do their job and admins should always give out the same punishment for the same crime.
So either remove the nazi admins, or go back to the old system, ban or no ban and implement a list where all bans can be viewed with a reason and the journal or post so you can filter out the admins who are abusing their powers.
I asked you to make a step forward and to bring better/fair rules/system more than once and what you do is running away.
There’s little point re-working the rules with the current ethos of half the admin crew – again, that’s been made clear countless times. I'd clear house massively, but then I'm not active enough to carry that - so the only alternative is to let you get on with it. They’re a different breed to what Crossfire has always been about.
It's easy to prove, current topic is "****** - ********** and Discussion", it's been the only one in the past 3 months where admins (actually it was u and me at the beginning) brought ideas and talked about them.
It was about improving to allow users to post comments such as "QUAKEWARS SUCK UND SO DOES WOLFENSTEIN" (quote of Yossarian) is nothing bad.
The only reason you asked people in a journal about what crossfire is was because I asked you that question and you didn't have an answer. And looking at this journal, you still don't have a proper answer to it.
<3nellie
That sucks Nellie, you're a good guy and one of the best of us, no doubt. I hope you reconsider.
glhf
Stick around tho!
Crossfire has suffered a major loss.
yeah give me points now nellie!
