Raid 0

After some frustration caused by Gigabyte bios and driver issues i got my new raid 0 volume up and running. Block size 128k, cluster size 64k. Consisting of two 1TB drives:

image: raid0

122.6 MB/s read speed according to HD Tach.

And all it cost me was around 135eur. Makes me wonder who still buys dvds.

Now finally i can get on with cpma.et project.

What you mean makes you wonder who still buys dvd's? For what, backing shit up?
movies, games? its best to just buy another hdd

I'd rather run them separately than risk the loss of all data if one of them fucks up. That read speed is nothing great anyway, I get that on a single drive.
on which drive do you get that? i get around 75MB/s on other drives.

samsung hd502hj

122mb/s with a single disk!? Even dual platters (which are, according to reviews, a bit faster than hdds with normal number of plates) can't reach that speed.

Hdtach screenshot plox..

nice. but wtf, i can't get over 100 with a "better" HDD

czesc kot co tam u Ciebie?

Wszystko ok.

Why RAID 0?!
much faster, especially when dealing with large files

You do realize that if just one of them breaks down you'll lose 2 TB of data? I'd go for RAID 1 if I were you.
Parent
i do realize that. for starters i'll be using it for q3 captures, which i can easily rerecord overnight. for any important stuff i got a 1TB external drive just in case.

I think it's better to make a raid 5 if you make a raid system.

File system : NTFS
338.6 burst
116.8 average
four old Samsung S250 built into 2 doubledisk raid0 (1tb total)

prolly gonna buy SSD for system disk soon + some huge disk(1tb or more) for all important data. And change all those disks i have into quadroraid for movies and other unimportant random stuff
122 mb/s :D
would actually make me able to watch my blurays i got on hdd :)
?

Pretty sure any hdd can handle bluray movies.

mine doesn`t...
40gb for 1,5h is more than my can handle^^
