for steam if you can show its yours (showing cd+keycode or if you bought online the online facture) and something more you might have a change to have it back (according to steam website)

Im not playing detective boy, I was replying to you and when I hit "submit" I had a nice "no such comment" warning. So I was like "wtf?" and reloaded the journal to see that you deleted the comment. Just thought to share that with the rest of us.
Oh and as far as your msn password goes, I'm quite sure you will never get that back.

Everything said put together comes down to the most likely situation where a bot was in fact executed on your PC and you got keylogged, logged into your steam/msn during that time and voila, they have your account info. They logged in and changed it, including your secret question/answers etc. In that case I'm quite sure you will not get your accounts back, ever.
And just cuz you didn't click on the .exe file yourself doesn't mean it was never executed. Perhaps the bot came in a self-extracting archive, which has the ability to execute on it's own.
the file is already standing on my external HDD for 2years now, so it would also be very strange that it suddenly "started to hack into my pc" or whatever..
Perhaps it was already logging your keys for all this time and just now someone decided to do something with it.
Who knows. Fact of the matter is that you have a bot on your pc and your MSN and steam accounts got hacked.. this usually points to -> You got keylog punk'd
Nee, dat risico is een stuk kleiner. Bij de meeste internet-bankier-applicaties heb je namelijk een extern apparaatje nodig om je te identificeren. Met een keylog heb je hooguit z'n bankrekeningnummer, bankpasnummer en een of andere reponse code die hij vanuit z'n externe apparaatje heeft in moeten voeren. Daar kun je niet veel mee.
Self-extracting as Ronner said. You don't need to start the program to actually activate the program. If you get keylogged, forget it getting your account back! =)

I'm not saying that that file caused my loss of passwords etc, maybe it's totally something else :s I just don't get it cause I never go to real hackersites, I'd never download a file from there.. the only site I got etc and have an actual account is warez-bb.org but I think that I can trust that site
Warez? Trustable? lol. Upload the file & send the downloadlink to [email protected] or send it here on cf. He might tell you if its that file causing the password loss.
A site with thousands of people sharing cracks/patches/keymakers etc safe? No, that's not safe. Most of the people on that site have little to no technical knowledge and thus have no clue if the stuff they are sharing might have other malicious code attached to the .exe's
The safest (read safest, but also not 100% safe cuz nothing really is) place for illegal media (apps, games, movies etc) is deep inside the release-group circle. GL getting in.
But I use another program now what seems somewhat save to me. Koala FTD search with grabit. Till now its cool for me, for example movies aren't 300 mb as on warezbb anymore but 4gb just the whole dvd... And if its infected i use my old pc to dl anyway
Movies are pretty much safe, no matter where you get them from. The only problem you can run into with movies is that instead of it being "Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince" it is in fact a raunchy pr0n.
And yes, usenet is a decent enough place for movies.
warez-bb is a pretty decent site. Suspicious links get reported instantly and if you just download from trusted members you shouldnt be getting keylogged imo.
I don't know who but he never denied playing with cheaters and admitted to having a bot on his pc. That's enough knowledge to warn him that he shouldn't mingle with such crowds because you risk being keylogged, or worse.
He's just talking about the ETbot from Netcoders that belongs to the almighty sCoot. He got his NC account, downloaded the bot and passed it to me (like 2 years ago?) i reported it to punkbuster and probably he still has the hack on his external drive somewhere.
