Microsoft bans up to 1 million Xbox Live users
All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live
What do u think? Is MS wrong by doing this (since modding the console to fit your own harddisk is also popular instead of cheating), or should all these console nerds just buy a new console? :DDD

hope mine doesnt get banned though ^^
Paying for online play without any real benefits except you know, playing online, is just wrong.
if its what i think it is, then atlist this shouldnt be touched !
gonna order CoD MW2, PES10 & Fight Night Round 4 today ... and i´ll play it online with a modified PS3 - for FREE! :P
All they do is use an internet connection (which you already pay for).
You are so naive.
and yes stuff like steam does it for free (i don't agree with steam either), although i can't record a voice message for my offline friend and have them receive it when they next log in
Not too sure on the specifics of X360 circuitry but surely anyone with a brain would disable the modchip when using xbox live?
your argument is irrelevant, please try again.
yes i did just google xbox live service and highlight every service in the text
yes i realise this is more to do with krosan's point than yours, but still related
you own the hardware. do whatever the fuck you want to it. modded console != piracy.
show me your "modified" PS3, because for the first time I hear such a bullshit like you wrote.
i got linux on my PS3 - would u say it´s a modified PS3??? stfu plz
internet...an anonymous area without behaviour & education - right???
http://blog.stevienova.com/2008/04/05/howto-hack-your-ps3-installing-yellow-dog-linux-60-and-actually-getting-it-to-work/
modified means it´s not original like it´s being produced by Sony
is my or your english so bad?

Pretty funny that this guy's justification for piracy is that "some parents can't afford to buy all of the new releases for their kids" yet he's a 25 y/o childless nolifer who's crying 'cus he can't spend 9 hours a day playing CoD.
i got myself banned when i went to try cod4 with the game beta-tester-crew :DDD
what a shame from u to expect getting money for the games u design/produce
root in hell for not working for free !!
Back to topic:
Although some may feel this is a harsh or non profit move, but in all respect this is one the most positive moves to date that a giant has done in order to keep the scene and consumers happy that there 300+ euro console machine is not going down the drain by some random morons who prefer to hack and cheat so as their alter ego can be satisfied. I can see this spreading across all platforms in the not too distant future.
This move has my Vote :-)
It's always a move for more profit for these big companies, never to satisfy the customer (unless it would give them more profit)
Then again it just may be using a2048-bit encryption, which at this time of posting only a 1 or 2 system networks are able to crack the encryption and that alone would take some 30 billion years of number crunching. So in reality, encrypting future consoles is the only way these systems remain as intended. Lets not forget, that these Game Publishing Companies live of the consumer's ability to purchase and follow a particular game throughout the years of development. In reality, you are paying someone else for him to entertain you, similar to going to a live concert or what ever turns anyone on.
and ms is right to do it because they want to sell their stuff and they arent a nonprofitorganization!
