But what if KB didn't ban the cheaters? What if he left all the cheaters here at CF. But without Tosspot there wouldn't be Crossfire. Imo Tosspot hasn't done much for this community in 2009, which is what the poll was about. Killerboy banned numerous of people, kept ontop of other peoples ban posts. Helped ET mapping, helped people with problems. Tosspot has never come onto here and helped someone, he asked for illegal downloads of a TV programme when it is clearly not allowed to share warez here.
It's the 2009 award. Overall Toss has done a lot for ET and still does, but in 2009 he has done less then he has done in the years before while KB has never been more active. I think KB should deserve it for 2009 although Toss winning it is no shame as well. Maybe next year you should call it the "TosspoT" award for the guy who did the most that year instead of giving it to him each year.
I understood your post, but I still think both would've deserved it and Toss won it because he has a bigger history in doing pretty much anything for the community. Like I said call it the TosspoT award and give it to whoever has done the most that year. This way you give Toss the credit he deserves and there is still someone else who can win it.
For the competitive gaming he kinda is. Without this site and the lan events, competitive gaming would die. ofc any of this doesn't effect on the pub gamers at all, but think about organizing/informing about 1daycups, searching a clan, new information about stuff for example new maps n' stuff, or conversation between ET players. All this would get quite hard without this site. And as you know, ladder is sorta dead already, et scene prefer cups more than ladder.
Who said anything about contribution? He have done so much for this community that its not even close to contribution. Also do you think organizing lan events is free? Well its not you ignorant prick.

all tosspot did with crossfir site is buying it few years ago... he never coded anything, nor he is paying for hosting, and guess what - he didnt even get the userbase... hes just a owner of well going gaming site...

The fact that most other LANs cost more... and most other LANs are utterl boring. I would know because i go to differnt LANs such as the i-Series and Crossfire. I am telling you right now, even if i didnt play ET Crossfire is the more enjoyable one to be at. Fair enough the prices at the bar are expencive but that has no relfection on Tosspots decisions. I find it hard to think how people could think they could pull a better job off at this?

and the lan would be cheaper because i would choose some cheap country, like for example czech republic... no overpriced drinks, cheap food, central europe so everyone got same distance to travel...
but I think the reason the lans are in holland is because ALOT of the (top) ET players are from belgium/holland/germany so it's easy and the UK people dont rly mind to travel
a lot of top et players are also from germany, scandinavia, POLAND... while its moderate easy for germans, the rest i mentioned got some problems with traveling to holland :P
yes there were LANs in Poland, some pretty big, but it never mentioned anything for western communtiy...
imo holland is good place, because its pretty hard for scandinavians and eastern europeans to come there and pwn... so faggots from be/nl can still think they are the greatest and poles & fins & swedes are prolly hacking

He may not bee that active in posting at crossfire anymore, but thats because he is working his ass off to keep this running and planning lans, shoutcasting ect. if you dont give him credit for that, you meight aswell leave this community.
I do give him credit, I think the guy is cool. He does do a lot but if you look at the poll. COMMUNITY MEMBER 2009, community is this website? So if you can find a post where he has helped someone in the COMMUNITY, perhaps I'll reconsider. Just my opinion.

Altough you have a point here I guess iDan is talking about posting news/articles/tutorials etc. what is in his eyes contributing. Therefore he has a point since contributing is doing something for the community for free etc, small things. And tossie does more then contributing, imo without him theres no competitive side anymore.
Thank you, you understood my point :). I was not flaming or saying Tosspot doesn't deserve an award, he deserves the hard work @ lans and stuff but not community member of the year award. People here must of got the journals point wrong, I think the poll's description is clear enough to be honest.
I also agree that eiM does also deserve an award, he is always helpful (in the convo's I've had with him) and he is making new maps which brings the game back! He also deserves a hard work award, it just made me think that community member is contributions to the site, being part of a community isn't just posting news about things you've done and asking for help. You need to give some back and take some, that's my opinion on it. Don't get me wrong the guy is a good guy, he has done so much and half of it I probably don't know about.
