Enemy Territory 5 Years Anniversary!
"Enemy Territory, was originally planned to be released as a commercial expansion pack to the popular FPS Return to Castle Wolfenstein. However, due to problems with the single-player aspect, the multiplayer portion was released on May 29, 2003 as a freeware standalone game."

Today is big day for all fans of WOLFENSTEIN: ENEMY TERRITORY! Same as last year, its for me great pleasure to wish our beloved Wolfenstein: Enemy Terrioty happy 5th birthsday! Yes my dears, some of you spent long 5 long years enjoying this best multiplayers first person shooter game in history! I believe that thanks to people who dedicate their free time in organizing cups, writing coverage, casting, playing and promoting Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory next 5 years will be at least as good as this five.
STAND UP SOLDIERS!
"The wonderfull thing about that game is that you are not individual, that you are really the team, if you try to play that game as an individual, you will fail!" (c) Markus 'djWheat' Graham
HB ENEMY TERRITORY! WE LOVE YOU! <3
Give some time to registration on Splash Damage site and wish HB there too to show our W:ET community is still alive http://www.splashdamage.com/node/220 thx

Anyway, happy birthday Enemy Territory!
I have to say you're strafe cannot be compared to anybodys , godlike.
Was just awesome to see oldschool ownage

(no sarcasm)

HB!
HB ET
still enjoying it, at least sometimes ;p
HB<3
the 3on3's with me 2 mates never get boring:)
p.s: the best game ever
5 years ago dsky was the best team on goldrush with their nadespam outta the bank :D
prone = best lame action, with 98 overall.. ask nonix or 4n$ xD
playing since 3-4 years and still sucking like hell
And I still love it! But for me it's not only the game, it's also the people. I think if you only met assholes in the clans you play, I would have given up years ago I guess.
But for me it was also an opportunity to play with nice guys from all over europe, and especially my current team!
=`)
HB ET WHOO!
awww :P i knew it u love me :D
I'm only playing it for 2 years and a half :)
lets give it a new beginning!
<3 ET
i ve been staying on rtcw because it was just better then et. when rtcw was finaly dead i made the step
and to remember the old demos when ettv wasn't avaliable. dsky-vs-gunslingers match from theeta POV must be the most downloaded demo ever in ET :)
over those 5 years, been only in 3 clans with mostly the same people. i still remember the 3v3 matches between dax/rS and DMD.. those were THE times ;) smligan and stuff
get real and die wiki !
got like 20x better pc than that and still get fps drops :D
<3333
I still love this game!"
HB
palying since 2004 December almost without stops
cool game indeed
but it's not true that you will fail if you try to play it w/o teamwork...
I started back in 2003 when I left school, I had only just stopped using 56k Modem lol! I played 2.55 for a couple of years and had no idea how big ET was or anyhting about the comp side of things!
2 years and a half for me ^^
I simply tell them they dont understand !
Seriously if you someone offered me 500 quid and COD4 i wouldnt swap it for my Free ET
<3
playing since demorelease =P
5 years str8.
5 years for me and still counting? dunno..
23:14:02<h1tmAn_> Am back.
HB
Gratz!
I loved it at first, even more so than RTCW, though I'm ashamed to admit that now because looking back RTCW was the better game. RTCW was like the perfectly balanced sports car, then ET came along, added some bits and pieces because someone thought they'd be cool and the perfectly balanced sports car became something that looked like it should be good, but wasn't, and no-one could ever really agree why. Then ET:QW came along and turned the franchise into a De Lorean! (for those that don't know, a De Lorean was a sports car that was so bad it failed on an epic scale and made it's designer a laughing stock in the UK).
I'm not sure why ET has survived for 5 years, it's not the only good team based game out there, it's overly rampant with cheaters, it has a diverse player base, from ETPro to Gaymod. I suppose being free helps a lot, and it does, and always has had, a good community backing, but as a game it's not that great. Perhaps people get stuck in ruts and don't have the ambition to look beyond their own little pools to see what else is out there?
But objective / class based isn't all that, so I've found. I once looked down my nose at games that didn't have objectives or classes, safe and secure in the knowledge that being an RTCW/ET player I was a superior being to all others.
Then I gave DOD:S a try (no idea why, just bored at the time I guess). It uses Capture and Hold (flags), but it has all the action and excitement as RTCW/ET and is a superb game to play in clan matches (DOD has a couple of RTCW/ET style objective maps and they're only used on public servers, clan players consider objectives are for noobs)
Now I play Urban Terror, which is even further away from RTCW/ET as it's traditional CTF (not the same as Capture and Hold, but still uses flags). Where it scores over RTCW/ET for me is precisely the fact it doesn't have objectives (meaning both teams have to attack and defend at the same time, meaning the game has a balance ET would sell it's Grandmother for) and being Quake3 based it has all the speed of RTCW/ET, and indeed strafe / trick jumping is a huge part of Urban Terror, way more so that RTCW/ET.
Anyway, I was once an objective / class purist, but I've had my eyes opened since, and doubt I'd ever go back to such a restrictive game mode ever again, even if RTCW2 comes out and uses the same mechanism.
sadly it is, it has the perfect balance of everything and there's no other game like it, I've tried a lot of games and none is as good as ET
make panzer more powerfull
sniper= hs = kill
wolfrof 1
that would be balanced
and obviously you have no idea what I meant
no that would be rtcw
getting confused :D
anyway i do get ur point and i just think that rifle is an overpowered class in ET
take all those things from ET and you get rtcw, and as I said, I think you obviously have no idea what I meant in my original post
and rifle is not overpowered, it's perfectly understandable when you take a look at other classes
i say that would be balanced
you say NO that would be rtcw
so my interpretation was that you think rtcw = not balanced
BUT NVM <3
my opinion on rifle won't change and yours neither so let's go do some usefull stuff :) BB
ET's a nice game, no doubt, but more people (who play online FPS games) DON'T play ET than DO, so it's obviously not "the best".
However this isn't the time to discuss the merits of the game compared to others. It's 5 years old, it's still widely played, so it's obviously got a lot going for it.
I do wonder though, if id software had simply released RTCW for free rather than what was intended to be an expansion pack would we now be celebrating RTCW's 7th birthday? (well, if it was November rather than May 2008)
ET is still the best
I did it for our czech magazine Doupe.cz - http://doupe.cz/h/PChry/AR.asp?ARI=119642. If each country have one man who try the same it will be like avalanche ;) Germany, Poland, France, Sweden, Finnland, Holand give W:ET present and try to do that! :)
At least somebody can try ESRaelity?
AND ET OFF COURSE!!!
yeeeeeeees! :D
NOT
FUCK THIS SHIT AND FUCK THIS GAME
